FattyPatty 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Hi and welcome, lots of helpful information on this board and very nice people, I am being banded next week and can't wait. You did very well sticking to the Cambridge, it is such a hard diet so the band should be a lot easier in helping you get to where you want to be. Good luck Susan Hello, not long for you now then, how are you feeling? I have lurked for ages and read hundreds of pages on this thread, pulling out lots of hints and tips from all the bandsters, and it is amazing to see the success stories - Well done eveyone! Also useful to read about the not so good bits to this jouney, as I'd rather know up front. I am just praying that this will work for me and that I won't be plagued by all of the issues at once! But ,yes having done the Cambridge I am prepared for several months of eating slop! Good Luck for next week C x
Freckles 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Thank you Baarbs, thats so nice of you xx fatty patty, thats hilarious, only because thats what my bro calls me even when i was a size 12, many moons ago. Cos thats my name too. The part that I love about the band is that once you get to your sweet spot, you dont feel hungry so you dont care if you cant eat a lot, I hope to get to that next fill. There's not many horror stories about these bands, if any??? most surgery is straightforward and most bands work exceptionally well, I would never have had another band placed if there were any adverse effects. I think its nothing short of a miracle. So good losing to you all, work with your band, you have to get to know it and befriend it.

Hi Freckles Well my brother calls me pork ball, and yeah he used to call me that when I was young and skinny too! My little neice overheard me talking to my mum when I said I can't wait to be a skinny minny, and asked why did I want to be a skinny minny, I replied, because I 'm fed up of being a Fatty Patty! It has stuck since then. Thanks for the advise, well done on your loss. I can't wait to have this done x Edited March 4, 2010 by FattyPatty

Hi Jenny, some people feel restriction with their 1st fill but most take around 3+ good restriction for me is around 6ml but you might find yours is a bit different, next fill will possibly have an effect for about 2 weeks and then wear off, but thats good because you know then your not too far off, take advantage of the few days post fill when your on fluids/mushies because these are the days you can have a good weight loss, I know it seams a long time in establishing a good weight loss but it will come as long as you go for regular fills. Hope this helps. mmm

Puddlejumper 0 Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) Hi Jean, I'm the same as you, no weight loss for just under a week now, but it's to be expected, it had to slow down some time! I've started eating proper food now, so I've had the same as you, I wouldn't call it heartburn (I've suffered a lot from heartburn in the past and it doesn't feel the same) more like the food isn't shifting and i've got some in my throat that won't go down. I'm guessing it's because I'm eating a little too quickly or trying to eat food that is too solid too soon. I'm trying to slow it down again, last night was very uncomfortable for a few minutes after eating some fish, veggies and onion rings. The last little bit of food I had came back up (not vomit as such) and I was fine. I need to stop eating the high sugar slider foods though, too many choccies recently!! Starting a new week with hopefully a new attitude! Not booked it yet, but I'm still considering going for the March fill. HI Jojo, Well excitement is growing dy by day, only another 3 days until I go to Belgium for my op! Edited March 5, 2010 by Puddlejumper ticker didnt work ! Hello, I have been an active member for just under 6 months on this webpage, the things people have said throughout the 558 pages of various messages do state one very clear message, simply that this procedure and the applied method by such a nice set of caring people says that they are very highly recommended. In any way I will find out for myself next Tuesday when I have my turn at becoming a full qualified bandster and I can't wait. No doubt I will be reporting my experiences afterwards but rest assured I am sure it will all be good watch this space ok? And good luck to you in your journey to lapband freedom. wannabe slinky 4 Posted March 6, 2010 hi all is it true you can only have band in for 10 - 15 years then u have to get it removed:ohmy:
Carriejess 27 Posted March 6, 2010 hi all is it true you can only have band in for 10 - 15 years then u have to get it removed:ohmy: Thats what the current research thinks although the band has not been around long enough to give an answer one way or the other. Anything plastic that you have in you body will eventually suffer from errosion, however you can just have a new one put straight back in, or by then they hope that you would have learnt how to eat a healthy balanced diet! Plus in 15 years time god knows what new things they will have developed!
