Hi all hope everyones doing well. Well I have defo arrived at restriction, I should have came off mushies today after my 4th fill last Tuesday but I tried to eat a Cracker bread with chicken mayo and the whole lot came up before it went down. I cant really eat anything solid. I know Ive waited for this time but to be honest dont know if I like this feeling. Im sure Gary says it slackens off after 10days or something like that? I can drink easily enough and eat mushies just a problem with solids. Some advice would be APPRECIATED. jX

Hi all

Ive just enquired about the 4150euro package, but can anyone tell me why on earth we pay 4k in cash? Who in their right mind would carry 4k around in cash?

Is there no other way? Cant we BACS instead?

My hubby is far from happy at the thought of carrying such a huge amount of money around in notes.

thanks x

Hi Homecare

Congrats on the restriction, i know its a weird feeling. It will settle down in a while especially as you should lose quite a bit over the next few days as you cant eat that much. As long as you can sleep ok and you can get fluids down you are fine.

Thanks Carriejess for the reply and Im looking forward to the weightloss, by the way your looking great in new piccy.

To all others thinking about fills and who have asked me about WLS. They are a company called weight loss surgery who have an aftercare package ie. fills and dietry requirements and are usually in your area once a month. Wendy is the nurse who does the fills and she has worked for numerous surgeons before starting on her own a few years ago. She has a wealth of experience and is a fab person. The fill packages are on special in December and January ie. 6months £275 1year £549. There are quite a few of us on here who have our fills done by WLS and have found them terrific. Gee I sound like an advertisement but a few people have pmd me so easier to write once. Hope this helps Jx:smile2:

I'm afraid you'll find it can be done in surprisingly few notes - they have a500 note, so you only need 8 to make4000 Carry 4 each and don't lose them! I took the money out in £ from my bank account gradually over a period of time, then swapped great wads of it to Euros at a bureau de change in London (See page 447 for links to recommended places for good rates of exchange)

Had my 3rd fill (.25mls) at the weekend and attended a very helpful talk by Colleen from WLS on recognising the difference between emotional hunger and genuine hunger. WLS offer so much more than fills, they're a great group to go with post op. Colleen was saying she went to Belgium recently and went into theatre with Chris and Fred to see how they work. She was impressed.

It's quiet here without Freckles, hope she's having a great time, and is happy and healthy.

Best wishes to all

SP

Welld one, the crckerbread would be fine with the mayo but its the chicken tht does it, i made a curry last night and too the time and cut the chicken into pieces the size of a pea and it was great.

This is where the learning curve really begins, here is a strange one, for me bread has nae chance even pan bread toasted however i toased plain (scottish bred for those that dont know) and it goes down nicely llbeit slowly.

BUt as everyone says it changes by the day.

Unfortunately in excess of 4000 people in there right mind choose to do it this was as it is the only option, everyone is uncomfortable about it but as an earlier post says use big notes, fred meets you in hotel the night before and relieves you of it ever so gracefully.

Thanks both of you, that's really put my mind at ease now.

Does anyone know why it can't be paid in a more secure way? I'm trying to convince my hubby there's nothing sinister in paying in cash, but he won't hear of it. :w00t:

That's just the way it's done I'm afraid. We've all done the same and I've not heard of any problems at all (and I have read every single entry on this forum!) The only alternative I can see is that instead of just payiing the deposit by bank transfer in advance of your arrival, you pay the whole lot, half a month before say, and half 2 weeks before so that the transfer all clears before your surgery date.

You could suggest that to Fred if you wish and your other half finds it preferable.

Hi thanks :w00t:

Yes that what we were hoping to do. I did suggest this to Fred in my email but although he answered me, he didnt answer that particular question. I will mail him again though.

AWW GARY plain bread your making my mouth Water. I havent had any bread since july as there was no chance it would go down toasted, 1day old or any other way. So no chance of this for me but youve gave me a craving for plain bread now. Incidentally can eat a little better but not much, mostly sticking to Soups and things. Keep up the good work. Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
