homecare 0 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi home care im booked in for the morning i think its half ten but i will need to check.Do you think this fill will get you to where you want with restriction? Hi bobo shame your in the morning I have to get fills pm as I cant get away from work before 1pm. I was surprised to find I had restriction after the last fill but it only lasted until last Thursday. Dont get me wrong I cant eat anything but the quantity has got larger over the last few days and Im feeling hungry whereas the first 2 and a half weeks after my fill I was really full after each small meal. Dont know whats going on. Gary reckons this is what happens when your near your sweet spot. Have you any experience of this? jx

Have you any experience of this? jx I think after a few weeks your band slackens off a little as the bigger the portions you eat the more your band is stretched.I have tried doing the five day pouch test and after the fifth day you have more restriction as the band goes back to the size it was when you got your fill. As i tend to stick to high Protein meals i very rarely feel hungry. Its only when i go back on to carbs i feel hungry so i stay away from them.

MiaBlue 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi all, I am seriously considering having this op, my husband has agreed after a lot of discussion. I am trying to look at the positive and negative of this surgery so that I am making a really educated decision. Went to my GP yesterday to discuss, he seemed to know very little about the subject, asked me what I would do if I needed urgent medical help after the surgery on return to the UK, I said I would go to hospital and he felt there may not be any doctors/surgeons who may be able to help me, it is a large teaching hospital so I find that hard to believe. I think he may just of been trying to put me off. Have just found this lapband talk today, I think it is going to be very helpful in making the decision. Mia, i think you'll find that everyone on here will give you excellent guidance. my first time on here was at the beginning of the year as my daughter was considering it and from the information gleaned I booked her with Dr Chris via Frederik (package deal). Her weight loss has been steady & has lost nearly 4 stone;this would never have been possible for her without the band as she'd tried tons of diets previously. My mum had it done 3 years ago (not with Dr Chris) and she's been successful too & to top it all I was banded by Dr Chris on 23rd Sept. Early days for me but all very positive. Good luck with your quest! kx
MiaBlue 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi K Well done to you and your family, that is reassuring to know that having seen other members of your family have this done that it did not put you off. When you say you went to Dr Chris via Frederick, who is Frederick as at the moment I am comparing deals with costs etc. thanks

When you say you went to Dr Chris via Frederick, who is Frederick as at the moment I am comparing deals with costs etc. thanks Frederik is the assistant to the surgeon Dr Chris De Bruyne and his contact details are: Serneels Frederik General manager ECFS Phone: 0032(0)472019091 frederik.serneels@ecfs.be. He arranged everything i.e. taxis on arrival/departure airport & to and from hospital. He will also visit on the evening prior to surgery to chat though the op. The package i chose was staying at Campanile hotel, which is 10 mins from hospital and cost excluding flights 4070 euros. i'm not sure if you'll find cheaper but i was really going for peace of mind...everything went like clockwork on both occasions. cheers kx
debby7154 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi Homecare and Garry, thank you so very much for your reply, you really have put my mind at ease. I think I worried as I never had the pain at all and felt must have damaged something when I stood up!! It comes and goes at the mo but one wrong turn or bend and its back so I am taking your advice and wearing the beautifully sexy big pants!!!! I had emailed Frederick and Dr Chris and both got back to me really quickly saying it could just be a torn stitch at the port side and not to worry. I have my grad ball on the 15th and really not looking forward to it:frown: I just feel so uncomfortable when I go out being the size I am !!! Can anyone give me info on Wendy @ WLS. Is it better to book a package with her??? Many thanks
MiaBlue 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Thanks Kaka, I will contact him and see what he is offering to do a comparison with what I have found already. Many thanks, regards Mia
SingingParrott 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Thanks Kaka, I will contact him and see what he is offering to do a comparison with what I have found already. Many thanks, regards Mia Please remember that although price is a very important part of the consideration, the experience of your proposed surgeon is too. Find out how many gastric bands he has placed, how many he has had to abort or remove shortly post op and if he has had any slippages or deaths. Does he teach other surgeons or is he still learning? What back up emergency facilities are there at the clinic or hospital where he operates? Will the use of these and his time be covered or extra? Lots to consider, but very important. I took some weeks to read every posting on this thread. It helped me make a fully informed decision. Good luck in whatever path you choose.

No problems. Still on liquids and mushies. Thus far I am down 16 lbs. Woohoo.
