Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

I got told (when I admitted I was) taking Fibrogel - Wendy @ WLS GASPED loudly and said "NOOOOO NOt fiborgel VERY BAD"! I was like - ohhh, ok, sorry... So I've been on prune juice ever since... as I explained last time (Evacuation procedures etc)
You see how everyone has different opinions, I was told that Fibregel is the best thing to take for dodgy bowels, and this from a Cancer specialist. So what do we believe?

Is it because our bands dont like it or what.

I took my first lot yesterday and 2 Senakots last night , and a Phosphate enima yesterday evening, and lo and behold, the Impaction has shifted this morning.

I feel like a new woman, I cant believe how ill all that poison was making me feel.

I will stick with the Fibregel as I would never want to go through that amount of pain and discomfort ever again.

I also ate some Bran Flakes for brekky.

Hey morning freckles - the way it was explained was that ti turns to gel and contuinues to expand... hence the band doesn't likei.

HOWEVER I did have a day where I got my fibrogel ready and got side tracked and came back and that sh*t had clean set i the glass!? turn it upside down and no movement - must have taken a bit of time though - so wuold guess it gets through your band in liquid form first right? Guess the risk it DOESN'T go through band first is what the problem could be... hence stretching your pouch... HEY HO glad it's working for ya lovely - know the feeling and it sucks the big fat kumara!

PS How do you change your ticker - new one every time we lose weight? hmmm

I don't mind your questions at all Gillian. The surgery here is costing around $12,000-$21,000 (8410-14,700 Euros) for self pay. I do have private insurance but it is not friendly at all for this procedure. A year long wait with supervised dieting and if your BMI ever goes below 35, the wait starts anew.

So, the cost was a factor. But, I had also planned a holiday in Paris. Something clicked and I started researching surgeons in Europe and found this forum and others commenting on Dr. De Bruyne. I even used the info. here to contact Frederik and once I had made my mind, I extended my flight and holiday plans.

I'll be spending a couple of days in England after the procedure, staying with friends. And then I will fly back home. The Surgical center here, which is a Center of Excellence, will provide aftercare. I had verified with them and all they want are the surgical notes and any test results from the procedure. They will offer fills for $150 per visit.

I'm absolutely ecstatic and have now confirmed all my trip details with Frederik. Yes!

it is exciting though chapamar!..we have all felt that way!..nervous too but excited yes!..your date will be here before you know it. you are travelling a long way too..so must be even more surreal for you. is there any reason you are having the surgery done in belgium rather than the states?..Chris de Bruyne is a highly experienced bariatric surgeon..and apparantly the second busiest in the world..just wondered how you heard about him as i know the states has a lot of experienced surgeons also. sorry i sound like im being nosey now!?! you dont have to answer. good luck anyway, and im sure youll get great aftercare once back home x

Heya ppl ,

hope all wieght loss is going well. I want to book my first fill. Just dont know with who is the best to do the fill?

I think i prefer someone with a scanner than blindely looking for the port is that wise?

Hey Rose.

How are you?

I have no idea who does fills in Denmark or will you have to travel? I have just had my 2nd fill and went with WLS. The lass who does them doesn't have an x-ray but she is highly experienced and has found the port without any hassle. I don't think an x- ray is really neccessary when the "filler" knows what she's doing and I reckon Wendy certainly does. I am really pleased that I chose to go with WLS and not you know who :w00t:

Good luck with it.

Take Care

:w00t:

Hi Everyone

I am planning on having surgery, soon I hope. I joined the group to research surgeons but have found lots of useful info. Can anyone tell me how long you need to take off work. I was planning to go straight back to work. I've been reading that some of you are getting pain from the port, are you able to work with this pain (I have an office job, so not too much lifting etc.) also, are you able to drive straight after? .I've been given dates for the surgery for October but might leave it until January 2010. Undecided at the moment. Is anyone planning to have surgery soon or who has just had surgery that could give me a bit more info.

I was thinking of having surgery in Brussel wih Der Chris De Bruyne. Has anyone had surgery with this Dr recently that can give me some advice or more info

ThanksDebs

Welcome Noodles, Chapamar and DizzyDebs, you will soon feel like part of the forum family, ask any questions at all, no matter how trivial you think they are. DD - most people have at least 1 week off work but everyone does vary, I wouldn't have wanted to go back until 2 weeks afterwards personally but no-one knows how their recovery is going to go so you have to be prepared to be a bit flexible really and give yourself a bit of extra time if you need it. Take care, Bigsis xx

ps Love the profile photo Noodles!

Hi Everyone

Hi Noodles

I've decided not to wait 'til January so I'm trying to get a date in October now. So you never know, might see you there

I've been looking at flights and eurostar and hotels. Where will you be going from. I'll prob get Eurostar - simply cos I never been on it lol

I believe the hotel is quite near the airport/station and it is easy to get cabs. I've never been to Brussels (not very well travelled). I'll be going on my own, do you all think this will be ok? do they speak english in Brussels. I'm just worried about not being able to communicate.

I'll keep you posted with my date.

Debs

Hi All

I have spoken to a few of you on here a couple of weeks ago and from your replies decided to go ahead and contacted Fred. He kindly sent me some dates in October and as I have work/holiday committments I have decided to go with his package of hotel, taxis and treatment, which I thought was a good price!. I have sent off my deposit and booked my fights, will be arriving in Zaventem by the airport about 4.00 pm on Thursday October 15th for a consultation and surgery on the 16th October. Does anyone know if 4.00pm the day before is ok as I couldnt get there any earlier? Also I am coming on my own, will that be ok? Is there anything I need to bring with me, and do they give advice on what to eat afterwards and for how long etc. as I am worried I dont know. Last but not least how long does it take for Fred to get back and confirm receipt of deposit so I know they have definately received it?

Sorry for all the questions, I am worried and excited and wonder if any of you will be there on 15th/16th/17th/18th October?

Thanks:thumbup:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
