Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi All - remember me? I'm the poor unfortunate who went to Belgium, had the surgery but did not get the band. Anyway, that was on June 12 and I'm not too happy with my incision healing. The incision above the belly button is quite red, and not really sealed and a bit pus-y. There are also red welts and red raised bumps - quite large - all over my belly where the dressings have been. I've been very good, I think, about keeping them clean and had the stitches removed a week ago. Anyone else experience this? thanks, kathy

aw thats a wee shame about your hubby> I am getting the hang of my restriction now, i have sussed to really take time, i can only eat mushy food but thats cool, and at the first gurggle at back of throat to stop and wait then continue as i found out that carrying on after gurggle leads to a little pain and the forming of that lovely gloop and if it does not shift at that then the little bit of food in pouch comes up> i got that far a couple of times yesterday and after that i could get nothing down even Water for a good few hours. Today i have got the hang and not Pb at all and managed to get decent ammount of Fluid, porridge for brekkie, a small plate of lentil curry then a small ammount (tiny) of rice with sauce tonight. I think i am very tight as meat is a no no but i am happy to put up with it as my weight has moved quite a bit even since thurs. I am so motivated again and just glad that the band is finally doing what its ment.

It takes a bit of getting used to eh?!! This may sound weird but I find it easier to drink standing up! I guess gravity is giving me a helping hand!! Still being cautious with food, had a bit of curry sauce and poppadom last pm but no meat/rice or anything. I haven't exactly been healthy but I am eating so little it'll be OK. Tomorrow I'll try some new stuff, more veggies/fish etc as I think I should be OK as long as I just have a small amount. Are you finding it's looser as the day goes on? I really struggle in the morning! It'll ease though as I was v v tight 4-6 weeks ago and had to have more put in last weekend. Wendy said I should be good now for probably a couple of months which is good. I don't really want this uncomfortableness every time I have a fill now I am at/close to my sweet spot! But, would rather that than not get to it!:smile2:

Hubby gone now.........................:frown:

Hopefully he'll see a lot less of me in 8 weeks! :smile2:

Poor you Kathy. My stitches healed nicely and I didn't have any problems with puss etc. Maybe you have a slight infection. If I were you I'd pop to the doctors as you may need some anti-biotics.

I was on holiday when you were in Belgium, how come you didn't get your band you poor thing? Can you have it at a later date? x

Hi All,

Could anyone who's been tell me what happens if you haven't booked direct with CDB (I booked with Bidget) about the consultation the night before. Should I phone him to say I'm here or will they look me up? Just crossed my mind, think the pre- nerves are starting to kick in now.

Cheers

Hi Fatduck - sorry I can't help you as I booked directly with Frederik. I'd give him a ring if you have his number if you haven't heard anything, it can't hurt. Not sure if any of the others booked with Bridget).

Good luck, it'll be the best thing you ever did x

Homecare - Welcome back!! So glad to hear everything went OK x

Thanks Sammy - I had the surgery but the doc told me that my liver was too fragile, that it bled when they touched it and he was afraid to trigger internal bleeding that he couldn't stop. So, I had the joy of the surgery and none of the benefit! My docs here - who fully supported me going to Belgium - are not very impressed as they say my liver tests are all within the normal range. One of them (an endocrinologist, who I love) is trying to pull some strings to get my band done in Galway, but not for about 9 months as I will need to heal. In the meantime, will have the liver fully investigated. I must sound terribly bitter, but it was a huge disappointment because, as we all know, you really psyche yourself up for all the changes in your life. But I will take your advise and will see the doc or at least a nurse tomorrow because the welts and bumps are pretty strange!

Hi Fatduck

I was the same and booked with Bridget (The first and last time I heard from her was when I made enquiries !!!!) Anyway.. I emailed Frederik a couple of days before op and I told him my expected arrival time at the hotel. He replied and said that he visits all the night before at the hotel and would see me there. When I checked in and was settling down he knocked on my door and said that he would see me later at 9pm with 2 other ladies at which we got all the infor needed. I saw Chris the day of the op for a little chat (which I presume was my consultation!) and then went down for my op. I paid Frederik the night before at the hotel.

It was all very relaxed, no problems, all questions answered before and after the op. You come away with a lot of info about the band; size, capacity etc, also a booklet telling you what you can't eat, etc. and dates, telephone number and venues for fillings.

Hope all this is of some help?

Have a good day

Westie x

High Anxiety - poor you. What a disappointment. Like you say you have had the discomfort of surgery without the end result. Let's hope you get ur op done in Galway, u must let us know how u get on.

It sounds like you may have infected stitches, not a nice thing especially when u didn't get ur band. I hope u get sorted out x

Hi all. Please could you tell me:

1. How often you have had a fill in the first 6 months? (e.g. roughly every month, 6 weeks, 2 months etc.) or

2. The number of fills you had in the first 6 months?

I'm trying to decide whether to get fills with Dr Chris or WLS. WLS 6 month package looks much cheaper, but I need to travel to get to their clinics which bumps up the price. It all depends on the number of fills I'm likely to need in 6 months.

I know its different for everyone, but if a few people respond at least I can get a rough idea of what people need.

Thanks

I had my first fill at 4 weeks, on a Friday, then the next fill the next day, Saturday (went to Belgium and stayed overnight)

Then I had third and fourth fills in Feb (about 10 weeks post op)

Defill in June then refill in July cos of Scarlet fever. . . that was all I had in the first yr.

Hope this helps

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
