fatduck 0 Posted June 15, 2009 I went to get all my bits n bobs from the chemist today, cost a bleedin' fortune, I got adhessive dressings then afterwards wondered if they are big enough. What size can I expect the wounds to be? I had keyhole surgery a few years ago for a heart op and I assumed that they'd be about the same- half inch or so- can someone enlighten me please. mmm 0 Posted June 15, 2009 Ah thank you so much mmm for your reply.Believe it or not its my birthday on the 4th August!!! Must be a good time of year to have it done..... I will certainly start looking through all the previous posts. I take it you were banded in Belgium as you speak so highly of them. When was op done? Do you ever miss food? Toppings I was banded in Feb of this year, and everything went smoothly, too smoothly because within 1 day of the op I was looking for food angain, I did'nt have any resriction at all until my 2nd fill, I dont miss food at all because I have'nt stopped eating I just have much smaller quantities and I can eat everything I want, but it satisfies me with just a sauser full. I know its hard to believe, but that how it works for me. Good luck
High Anxiety 0 Posted June 15, 2009 Thanks everyone for all your encouragement! Today (four days post-op) I seem to be feeling my incisions a bit more and a bit more discomfort when standing up and walking - I wouldn't go so far as to call it pain, but wonder if others felt a 'stinging' pain? Also, to Homecare - please do not worry about the wine and your liver. In my case, I had a history of cirrhosis and actually had a portion of my liver removed in 2002 - so my case was certainly more serious than a few glasses of wine. For the record, I'm not a lush - inhaled a toxic mold in a cave (yes, a cave) and it caused the cirrhosis - which I understand is the dying off of the liver. So please, don't be worried but I did really want to get the message across that you must tell them everything, no matter if you think it is too old or irrelevent! ShellyG how are you today? You and Ken are a lovely couple - so glad you have such great support. Cheers, kathy

X you will have 5 wounds (6 for a guy), four of them will be no longer than a cm and 1 will be about 5-6 cm as this is your port. gx

gillian 4 Posted June 15, 2009 Hi GillianYou once mentioned some pills from the doctors that were double strenght ALLi. Can you give me there name. I'm trying to lose weight before the op and felt as though I was doing ok but Some of the old stuff is beginning to creep back into the diet. And I cant let that happen now.:bored: ShellyG Thanks for the wonderful post about your operation. I have a much better insight into what will haopen when I finally get to Brussels in August. Hi everyone else:thumbup: take Care Jackie jackie, the tablets your doctor could give you to help are called 'orlistst' or 'xenical' they let some of the fat you eat in a meal pass right through you..they dont have nice side effects, and you need to be near a toilet!! cos when you gotta go, you gotta go then! they are the double strength 'alli' tablets. i also tried 'reductil', that takes away some of your appetite and did work a bit better for me, but you get side effects with that, headaches, sleeplessness, moody etc. you are best asking your doctor for help as some of these things you have to prove you can lose half a stone or summat yourself first before they will give em to you..which sounds daft i know!..have you told him you need to lose weight before you go over and have the op done?..he may be sympathetic you know?.. the last thing you want is to go over there and be turned down, so good luck anyway x

mmm 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi Kathy High Anxiety, I am so sorry I have'nt responded to your post, but when I read it felt so dissapointed on your behalf I could'nt and did'nt know what to say, now that I have slept on it I'm still in the same position, but I do want you to know that I and it seems the other members on here care about you, and if there is any support I can give do not hesitate to contact me. We are all aware of the rollercoaster ride we go through from the time of booking to the time of having the op done, but at least at the end of it something positive has been achieved, even if we are a lot poorer financially, but in your situation all that stess and tension is still within you, please contact you gp or someone who can help you through this, because it must be like a bereavement for you. If you want to use this thread to help you through it, then please do so, I for one will be listening, and it might be a comfort to you to know that others care. Look after yourself and I am thinking about you. Love maggs. xxx

High Anxiety 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi Guys - you are all being so great - thanks for the fabulous support! I'm kind of licking my wounds at the moment (so to speak - tongue not quite long enough to do it literally) and will formulate yet another clever diet plan in the coming days. Cheers, kathy
ShellyG 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi Kathy, I'm feeling grand today. Getting a bit better each day. Weighed myself today and i'm down 6lbs since last week but do bare in mind I practically havn't eaten anything since last Thursday night. In total I'm down 10lbs since I started my pre op diet. I emailed Allan last night and he's in a lot of pain. I told him that garrymc had a haematoma too and he should join here and have a chat with him. He said he's feeling a bit down and can only eat slimfast. Anyway, weight aside I think the first thing you should do is get to see a specialist about the liver. Once that's cleared up it'll give you the strength and head space to go forward with the diet. I know what you weigh but you really don't appear so big and you carry yourself so well. I agree with gillian about Mags post, it truely was lovely and came straight from the heart.. Take this few days to relax and chill (weather is good so I'm assuming you didn't go back to work!!). You have me email address so mail me anytime and everyone else here is so supportive to so at least you have someone to talk to. Love ShellX
