i have a question for all you guys with proper restricition, does it feel very different to the feeling you get when something backs up the throat and you get the gloop. If someone could try and and put it into words i would appreciate it.

Alright gaz good to see you had a good time in ibiza you party animal.Thats the feeling i get that my food backs up alot quicker than it used to before.I dont know what kind of restriction you have just now but before when i did not have restriction and ate food too quick it backed up and i would get the gloop or the pb as i call it.But now after a small tea plate of food when i feel if as i am going to get to the stage when i am going to pb i stop eating so i dont get it if that makes sense. So the band definitely works by making you think how much you can eat and if you have had pb you will know it is not a nice feeling.

Hello Everyone

Sorry not posted for a while, been madly busy....

I could do with some advice, feeling a bit weirded out, have been so positive and excited about getting banded on 3rd July. I have got all the money together, which really was the hardest thing, but I'm suddenly feeling really nervous and feeling like I might die on the operating table!

It's a stupid thing to start thinking about, I know, but it's all I'm thinking about and I'm seriously wondering if I want to do this now...but I know I will never be able to get my weight under control myself.

Someone tell me to pull myself together!!

hey p

its completely normal what your thinking and we were all no different, if you get a bit of paper and write down one side the plusses and the other the negatives then i am sure you will take yourself back to that positive. If you also take yourself back to how you felt when you left me last week, nothing has changed allbeit you are closer to doing it. ON the death thing i explained to you how presice dr c and his team were and if there was one little thing in your blood results or ecg he will not operate, other than those annomolies you will be fine.

Thanks Gaz, glad it was you who got back to me so quick, I was out on the drink Sat night, it's maybe just the down feeling from that, but something's def not sitting right with me today, I need to get back to that positive feeling and think about how amazing my life is going to be when I do not to deal with day in day out food issues!

Looks like your stag was fun and you've topped up that tan again>! How's your cute dog getting on! You should post a pic of him

Thanks for the advice.

Hi there. I think Gary is right, everyone feels this, it's only natural. Dr Chris has NEVER had anyone die on his operating table and has performed 3 or 4 thousand procedures (can't remember which). The hospital hasn't had any MRSA cases (if that makes sense!!) either which is rare these days! You will be banded in no time and you won't regret it. Just think about the pluses to ur health and how great you will feel! x

Hi Gary - glad you had a fab time. U look great by the way!

I seem to have proper restriction now after being v tight for nearly 2 weeks. I can only eat v small amounts and then feel full. It's not the full feeling I got without the band it's a lot higher than that. It almost feels like something is stuck but it soon wears off. Does that help? I still get a bit of the pb gloop and it does feel different. I'm only able to eat small amounts for example I've just had a mackerel fillet and am full. I think I may eat 5 small meals until the band loosens slightly as I want to get in proper food not just Snacks like I was last week.

I got some new Vitamins todays. Bassetts Soft and Chewy with Omega 3. They were OK but did taste a bit fishy!!

I'm gonig away a week on Saturday so hope it's slightly looser else I'll be on shots not cocktails!! And it won't be pretty!

Hey guys!!!!

Feeling a bit down today:sad:

I feel as if i have no restriction in my band i know i'm only 13 days post op but can munch my way through popadums and stuff no problem!

I am getting hungrier by the day as well!!!

First fill isn't till 25th june and think that is to long to wait! not sure whether to go to wls as may get in earlier!!!!

Any advice!!!!??

Don't worry. I felt like this. I got my appetite back quickly! It shows you are healing well too to want food. I am with WLS and can really recommend them for fills. I'm lucky enough to live near ish to London so can go every 2 weeks. It's only taken 3 fills for me but everyone is different. Wendy keeps a mobile with her 24 hours a day for emergencys which also gives me some comfort if anything were to go wrong (not that it will!!) x

Freckles - we have to be good now!! No more chocolate and ice cream!! Mind you I still managed to shift 11 lbs in 2 weeks! I am able to eat bits of other food now so can't really use the 'it's the only thing that goes down' excuse! Fun whilst it lasted!:tongue:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
