Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm thinking of getting banded and I feel really nervous about it. I suppose its the thought of going abroad for the surgery. Did anyone stay in Brussels or would you recommend staying closer to the hospital. Can you tell me if there were many extra costs (medical). I now Chris de Bruyne charges 3950 euros but appart from the travel and accomadation did you have to pay for anything else?

Thanks Jackie

hi jackiem

welcome to the chat you wil find all your answers here. Please take some time out and scroll back through the posts and you will probably answer all your questions. AS far as the hotel, dont stay in brusseld itself you are better to stay in vilvoore which is where hospital is. If you book the package with ECFS whichis what a lot of us have done it included transfers from airport, hotel and taxis to and from hospital, it is not more expensive doing it this way as i think all of us on here have tried many different ways to book. If you want there contact detils then just ask. Dr Chris and his team are very good and you wont be disappointed, i am sure all our friends on here will agree.

Garry

Morning all!

Freckles - I am glad to hear things are improving in ur life, long may it last! I don#t have any restriction after 2 fills so don't worry too much. Is it tomorrow ur fill? Mine is in London and it's just me and Harrison  I hope he's a good boy as I hate travelling when he's in a nark!

Gillian - yummmmmmmmmmmm Bakewell tart. U did a deep fill then?!

Wishful I really hope your hair stops falling out. I don't want mine to - it's my only redeeming feature!! :)

Carrie - ur weight loss has been fab!

I guess Mandy will be on the theatre table - hope ur OK!!

I hope to get a reasonable fill tomorrow. I just text Wendy as I still have a bruise from 2 weeks ago but she said it's OK to do one! It doesn't hurt but still quite big!!

hi jackie, we have all had the same thoughts and feelings as you. i was really nervous although very excited. if you book package with dr chris its the campanille hotel not far from hosp where youll stay most likely..think everyones stayed here. we did and it was clean and comfortable.the only extra that you pay for is your flights, you can get some good deals tho, remember its worth paying bit more to fly to brussels international airport than charleroi airport, as we flew there and it was a long drive away, even though it states its 'brussels south'. and if you poss can try and stay at hotel one night longer, as you really do start to feel better as every hour goes on after your op..or at least get a later flight, we had early morning one and i felt not too great after op and 2 hours sleep! gillian x

Hi jackiem, welcome to the forum.. i think you are probably going to be getting banded by the best or 1 of the best surgeons in the bands, dr chris and his team are all very experienced, i paid just for the band and then booked hotel, flights separate, the hotel campanile is about 20 min walk or just a couple of mins in the taxi, once you have paid for your band, hotel ect there is no hidden extras, good luck to you x ps any ?s just ask someone will try an answer you x

Gillian, I found my sweet spot after those long haul flights, I couldnt even say I was hungry, which to my mind thats how it should be when you cant get much down.

I went to New York and the amount of Chinese buffets and lovely restaurants there was amazing, but I couldnt eat any of it.;)

Also went to Florida and you know what the food is like there too, there was 8 of us and they were all scoffing big fat juicy steaks except me, I just sat with Soup and inhaled their food.< /p>

Do you feel hungry?

im still trying to work out if its head hunger..i think it is. i just like to have nice tastes of things all the time...so im doing just that..anything i fancy, im just having a taste of. but i seem to be still constantly at the fridge!. i cant eat much at once anyway and if i stuck to meal times i think the weight would drop off quicker..i still fill my plate..that is taking a lot of getting my head round!!.i was hoping that the sweet spot would take some of the hunger away. last fill i got really good restriction and wasnt hungry you see but its loosened off a bit now...hope this fine tuning on tues gets me going!. I have never been to the USA..id like to go when the kids are couple of years older...if can afford it, i have heard wonderfull things about the food!..bet its frustrating though?!..did you have unfill before flight?. we were told to have a slight unfill if flight was over 4 hours..going on a flight nearly that in oct, so may have little bit out, its all inclusive and it will kill me not to have a little indulgence!..can always get well filled up on return to lose owt i put on!?. oh yes!! bigsister just text me to say that at holland and barrett those kelp tablets are half price at £1.99 instead of £3.99..so its def worth it to get em x

glad your feeling better flirty, and i hope this fill gets you there..when are you off to belgium?..is it monday?. dont forget to ask about the tummy tucks and report back..it would be great if you could get one done on national health, and you should as you are deserving of one with all the weight youve lost and your age. but like you say waiting list might be years..so best just to find out about reputable surgeons..like you though. think id prefer it nearer to home if possible, its more of an op than the band x

Yeah gillian leaving here at 4sunday morn for airport wil be in belgium at 9.30am so il do some shopping in brussels but yeah like u i think id rather being closer to home being here or uk cos it defo is a bigger op than band and god forbid even if it was a wee infection u got it would be a nightmare and id like to be able to have easy access to the surgeon/hospital i have a consult in dublin the end of may i know the tt with Lipo is €8200 and arms are €6000 but id near be prepared to pay that even though i want to research more into the uk cos i think it could be wee bit cheaper even with a top surgeon but defo not going near a cosmetic clinic has to be a general hospital id just feel safer but il find out all i can from dr chris and report back...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
