Bless you Gillian I didnt want to start boring everyone with updates on the family, but will do it now being as you are so sweet as to ask. Mum is in the nursing home and seems a lot better now, mentally. She can weight bear but not walking yet. The physio has to be requested by GP, didnt know that till yesterday, sio have asked them to do it asap. Sadly Mum's twin passed away on monday just gone and I had to break the news to her.

She took it well, but has asked me every day did I tell her, that she had died. Her Dimensia stops her from remembering, which is a good thing in a way as she isnt dwelling on it while I'm not there.

Daughter and baby are doing good, she has even been allowed back to work.

Cant wait to see if I have any saline in my band when I see MVDB on saturday, please God that Freddy didnt peirce my tubing. How would I stand if he has done that, with Dr Chris I mean, do you think he would replace it free of charge for me? I know I'm being a bit pessimistic here, but I have simply no restriction whatsoever, like when my other band had a hole in it and I'm scared to death.

Oh dear Wishfull, do you think you lost the weight too fast?

I take Sea Kelp for strong teeth, nails and hair. Try it chick, it may be just a passing phase. If you are unduly worried ask your GP.

Hi freckles glad your mum has settled in the nursing home.. bet thats a of weight off your mind. Im sure your band is ok and after your next fill you should be able to feel some restriction, i bet its harder for you as you have stopped smoking the same time as trying to lose weight, both are really hard to do so you are doing really well really.. but i understand why you are worried as it has happened to you with your other band x

The Kelp tablets are not an overnight miracle girlies, you have to just take them every day to see the effects.

You poor things with your hair thinning, I do hope it comes back as thick and as lustrious as ever.

I didnt have that but there again I only lost 2 stones the first time, so mabye thats why.

Forgot to say Gillian, Sarah who is in Oz started a job last week and is loving it. It pays well too $23.50 an hour, its in a call centre, sales, which she has experience in, the sales, not the calling. She was an area manager, always on the road, and I used to worry like mad about her driving all over the country. I'm glad she's sat in an office.

She says its quite an expensive place where they live, and it gets dark at 5:30 at night! She says all the bars and restaurants close about 9:30 at night, and they find it strange and pretty boring.

She thinks they may move on somewhere else in a few months, as they have an apartment they have leased for 4 months atm.

I always feel like I'm hijacking this thread when I go on about my family...sorry peoples.

Hi I'm thinking of getting banded and I feel really nervous about it. I suppose its the thought of going abroad for the surgery. Did anyone stay in Brussels or would you recommend staying closer to the hospital. Can you tell me if there were many extra costs (medical). I now Chris de Bruyne charges 3950 euros but appart from the travel and accomadation did you have to pay for anything else?

Thanks Jackie

no your not freckles..well thats different where your daughter is!..i thought it would be midnight barbies on the beach till dawn! and loads of fosters lager and surfing etc!.glad shes got a job, well paid too!..wouldnt be surprised if shes off to somewhere more exciting soon tho?!. yes you prob have to take those tablets for good few months, its always like that with herbal supplements isnt it? i might get some now before its even started then..as a precaution! Im going out with the girls from my old work for curry tonight..i did think about not going but we still have to socialise dont we, i can bring most of it home in doggy bag..(they all know about band anyway). and i get another meal for tomorrow too! im having tiny fill on tues, but i think it will make a big difference and get me going faster.i have restriction now, but just needs little tweak..can you remember when you got to your sweet spot before..are you supposed to feel hungry still or not? i struggle with knowing if its in my head or not..i suspect it is in my head, and i just see and want!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
