If you decide to go with Dr Chris/Frederik for your fills they will give you details when you are in Brussels.

I have decided to go with WLS Weight Loss Surgery Group - Home as have a few of the others. They are in London every other weekend. I have paid for a 6 month aftercare package where you can have unlimited fills for 6 months (£349.50 but it was on special offer a few months ago £279 I think). I think this is good value as they are between £80-£100 per fill depending where you get them done. Have a look at the website, not sure if they cover B'ham but can recommend them if you have to go to London anyway.

You could also try looking on the internet to see if any of ur local hospitals do the gastric.band operation as they will probably also do fills. I found somewhere more local to me but they wanted £300 for dietician, £200 for first fill (as wanted ot do it under x-ray) then over £100 for subsequent fills. They weren't particularly helpful either so I gave them a wide berth!

Someone was also asking about when to travel back after the op. I agree with what has been said, the longer you can leave it the better as you will feel better by the hour!! I stayed in the Campanile an extra night and was glad I did especially as the barium meal they give you for the x-ray gave me the runs!! I also felt much better than the day before which made the journey much more bearable!! If you can't stay that extra night, as Wishful says just take it easy and ask for help if you need it.

Sorry, I can't help out with flights as we drove across.

I took some liquid vitamins for the first few days but they were nasty. A couple of people have taken the Bassetts soft and chewy Vitamins or berraco (I think the are called - they are on that advert on TV where people are on treadmills gonig from one to another) which are effervescent. You can get them both a Boots/supermarket. I haven't bothered taking any since about day 7 as I can pretty much eat anything and don't feel I really need anything. Sorry I can't be much more help. If you can't find those ask the pharmacist for a Multivitamin that is chewy/effervescent as there are probably others out there!

Sue - just looked at WLS Group - they are in B'ham at: Birmingham

38 Harborne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 3HE

Hope that helps. LEt me know if you want anymore info on them/their fills. Only been once but going again a week on Sunday and they were very helpful/professional.

Hi odgemodge, i took chewable Multi Vitamins from holland and barret with vit b.. these are recommended as your body wont be getting everything it needs after your op, the vit b is to help with your hair so it doesnt fall out!!! i have just bought chewable mv with vit b from boots, they are in a pink and white bottle (it tells you on the back that they have vit , you are meant to have chewable as you wont be able to swallow tablets after your band, i eat plenty of veg but still take them.. better to be safe than sorry, i dont fancy getting up 1 morn bold lol. 1 of the bandsters starting loosing her hair about 5 months after her op so they are worth taking x

BTW - I kept meaning to say how fab u looked when we met in Manchester. You can certainly notice the difference from ur FB photos! No wonder i nearly walked past you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
