This may be a silly question but I am due to fly to Belgium tomorrow for my op on 31st and was wondering where the best place to get yoghurt or Soup as suggested in the information I have been supplied with. Also I think I have everything sorted but any last minute tips or advice?

if your staying in campanile vilvoorde then ask reception as there is a supermarket close be. Basicall you go out hotel under railway bridge and then basically cross road and there is a street that goes up at 1 oclock and there is a shop on left.

Good luck

hi all

as you know i am thinking on going to belgium for a further fill and check up due to hematoma. I can get a low cost flight to the other airport with ryanair. can anyone who as used it please advise costs on train/taxi to vilvoorde and the travel time. Did not want to go this way after op due to pain but for this the extra travel outways the cost.

Thanks

Gx

yes perky, follow garrys route, i found that supermarket..its a LIDL!..youll get everything you need from there...go before your op tho as you wont feel like it after...get a 3 pack of the small apple juice cartons for after to sip on, wishing you the best of luck (you wont need it tho, your in great hands at a great hospital where youll be looked after brilliantly) have you packed some loose stretchy trousers, and slip on shoes, it makes it easier and comfier for you after the op..maybe take some instant coffee for the room, those all in one nescafe cappucinos or lattes are nice if yoy like coffee ,cos you dont get much milk, sugar in the room..also cuppa soup are good to take too.. report back next week and let us know how you went on!...oh and by the way, welcome to the forum!

Garry it took us an hour from charleroi airport to villvoorde..think taxi is expensive, we hired a car there which wasnt bad,...have a look at "charleroi transfer.com" its like a shared taxi service, its cheaper..would you be staying overnight or flying back the same day? its a shame, but can understand you want it sorting..esp in time for that stag do. my port area was a right pain its only just settled down after about 10 weeks post op...hope you get it sorted once and for all x

Oh Garry what a damn pain to have to go all the way back to Belgium, but needs must. Good luck sweetheart, hope all goes well for you.

I have a dilemma myself now. Michael VDB has mailed me to say he hasnt got a clinic in manchester until 7th May.

So do I fork out about £50/60 in petrol and drive there and back or do I go somewhere else...just dont know what to do.

I have 2 fills included in my package and Michael said he would do them both at Manchester.

But i will still have those even if I get the first one done somewhere else.

What do you girlies think?

Hey girlies, has anyone got the web address of wls you were all talking about in January.

Do they do fills anywhere closer to Liverpool than Sheffield?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
