your messages are ace to read, loads of insperation to each of us, everything is so interesting, I realy enjoy reading your messages, your all doing so well. Please would 1 of you explain what a sweet spot is, lol I am getting more and more excited about my op each time I log on to here and read your stories.

sweetie the sweetspot is when you no longer feel hungry and can only eat say a few mouthfuls at any meal, thats when the weight falls off.

Does anyone of you older bandsters have anything to say about this, or are we all neweys?

I know Flirty has had her band for a while, what do you think hunnybunch?

SWEET SPOT

Every one is different and restriction form the band will happen to everyone at a different level, you will hear everyone talking about fills, the sweet spot is where you persoanlly feel most comfortable with your level of restriction so that could be 2 fills for you but 6 for me just how you want to be. Some people with a band want to be super tight and can only eat mush or pureed food through choice and some people only want light rstriciton just a gentle reminder that something is there. I know a lady at the support group i attend that her sweet spot is very tight and can only eat mush, thats her choice, she has lost 14 stone and that just how she wants it. I hope to get restriciton but still pretty much want to eat normal food allbeit smaller amounts however at the moment while i am motivated rstriction would not make a huge difference however in 6 months time where i may be struggling with dieting i might choose to have it tight to make sure i keep loosing, so your sweet spot is where you feel most comfortable and are loosing weight.

Hope this helps.

BAND MEETING

If we were to stick a pin in a map of the uk as to where would be a good location for us all to meet for a wee get together where would it be, give me an indication as to locations as i am quite sure we could arrange a small get together and of course a few small alcopops of course sugar free and no gas. I know flirty is up for it (meeting that is ) and going by some previous posts me thinks ther may be a few others.

JUst a wee idea.

Gx

Yes its fast approaching lol im feeling excited/nervous/anxious all at the same time if im making any sense lol..

It's so soothing & reassuring to read you guys experiances,, I must admit it makes me feel more at ease about the Op etc.....

I made the mistake of telling me Grandmother about the Op and she's told quite a few other family members who have inundated me with calls not to do it etc....:)

But I remain focused on this journey and look forward to the new me & really just getting my confidence back..

Garry you are so clever, thats exactly right, different strokes. You put it across so much better than I could, thank you.

Cant weight, I'm sure your family are only concerned for your welfare, a lot of people get really confused about Lapbands and think they are gastric Bypasses. I think a lot of bad press has made people scared of this surgery, so dont be too hard on your family, I'm sure they love you and are just scared for you, as too must be your Gran xx

You will chick, you will, but you have done tremendously well without finding it!!!!

Yes Garry I will be up for it, but not for a while eh, we have to wait for these new girlies to have their ops first, and feel well enough, dont you think?:)

I am 150% sure that it is the fear of the unknown as they dont know anything about it, if you were going for a routine medical operation yes they would be worried but would not say dont do it because they kind of know whats involved, i had family and friends that were unsure but did not put me off, but after all research i done i sat and explained to the ones that were interested and now they are dead keen on my progress.

Sure by now your up too speed on the whole thing so dont get defencless with them just take some time and explain, sure once they understand, the concern will ease, never go away because they care about you.

Take it easy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
