Good luck to you and mmm :crying:!! We want a full report when you are feeling up to it! My date is Friday 13th too (but in March). It was the only date that fitted, I want this so badly so thought stuff this it's only a date!!

Mmm - I will read up about the crash. My husband is a pilot so is bound to be dissecting the whole event with his friends! How awful to witness such an event.

Fatpants hope you are feeling OK today.

All you other lovely peeps - I hope you are good too and I am so pleased everyone seems to be doing so well. This forum is a god send!

I have my eye on the euro exchange rate everyday - I hope the £ gets a big stronger over the next couple of weeks!

I will be starting my pre-op diet in 2 weeks time. I will be in Belgium for a week of it as my husband, baby and myself are gonig to go to Bruges/Brussels beforehand as we don't seem to have had a holiday in a while and I think our holiday fund has been spent this year on my band !! Well I know which I would prefer. I would be miserable somewhere hot anyway. I was last holiday and I have another 3 stone on thanks to my pregnancy!! Well my little boy is lovely and all worth it, just a shame I didn't crave celery or cucumber! Nope I craved anything sweet, typical as I could take or leave puds/choc etc before and now I can't :mad2: . Eating out is gonna be difficult in Belgium but I will be good, maybe just one belgium choc!!

make the most of your time left that you can eat normally! (esp lovely fresh bread!esp with lurpak..mmm!cos its a no no after) buy some belgian chocs and allow yourself one a day too!. im sure youll do just fine, and i do know what you mean about feeling miserable and fat on a nice hot holiday, hopefully youll be looking great on your next one next year, and foregoing a holiday to pay for a band this year will be well worth it when you do!..x

Hi all

Just a quick update. After my second fill last week, I am now eating normal food again and find I can only manage small portions. Went out for a meal last night and had a starter of salmon fishcakes and extra vegetables, and only managed the fishcakes and a tiny amount of vegetables.

I think that I am starting to appreciate that child's plate size portions are the way forward from now on. I have no problems with liquids, youghurt or chocolate, lol.

Got weighed and measured in Curves today and since January I have lost about 8 inches all over and 11 pounds. The weight is not dropping off like I thought it would, but slowly and surely wins the race, as they say.

I think I'm on my way at last.

Good luck one and all, keep smiling :crying:

glad your feeling more positive about your weight loss now tropical..you have done well, and like you say, slowly but surely!...think im doing just like you are..so hope next month im saying the same! keep it up! x

Well girls its nearly time, I'm packed and ready, we leave tomorrow thurs at 9am and are flying out of heathrow on the 14.40. I'm not nervous now only excited and really pleased that the roads are clear of snow.

Have you heard on the news today about the plane crash in Wales. It happened about half mile away from where I live, my daughters boyfriend was an eye witness and saw the plane explode, so we've had a very traumatic day what with helicopters fire engine and more police than you can shake a stick at.

Thank goodness I'm a frequent flyer its enough to put anyone off who's not.

When I post next it'll probably to say that I'm on the bandwagon. Yippee. :crying:

Just a quick post to say we will all be thinking about you mmm and lewisabbeyalyssa & her mum on Friday and hoping all goes well, I'm sure it will and look forward to your return to the forum with your report on your experience. Take care, bigsister.

Hi there peeps!

I am back after nearly 2 weeks at my mum's house. I am on maternity leave so get to do these things!! She has no internet bless, my husband refers to her house as 'a communications black spot!!'

Anyway I am back now for a few days then off to see my mother in law for half term as she is looking after my niece.

Shoes - I am sorry I won't be having my op the same day as you but it is great that you have got a sooner date! I wish i was because like you I can't stop eating crap and going out for meals saying 'this may be the last time I can eat this or go to this restaurant'!

Freckles - hope you had a nice holiday.Have you got a date yet?

Flirtylass - hi there and well done on the weight loss!

Gillian, Bigsis, Wishful and everyone else who's just been done, I am glad to hear things are going OK - oh and Gillian I hope you haven't eaten anymore turkey dinosaurs!!

I have had a quick flick through the previous pages but haven't had time to read them all will a demanding 6 month old baby!

My husband is a great support too. He has no issues with me having the surgery or spending the money. He'll also do pretty much everything for our son until I feel better. Bless :crying:

Did people speak to their GP before having surgery? I did kind of mention it (to break the ice kind of thing) when I took my son in a couple of weeks back. He just laughed and said I couldn't tag it on the end and needed a full appointment (I was just testing the Water and wasn't expecting a full consultation!). He is so skinny and I don't think really understands but I don't really want to not tell him in case something goes wrong. However I know he likes my husband and I but I am scared to go and speak to him!! He made a comment once along the lines of 'god your shopping bill must be huge' and then realised what he'd said (my husband is large too!!). I just laughed it off but it made me think he doesn't realise what a sensitive subject my weight problem is!!

I don't really want to go to another doctor as he is the best of a bad bunch!! I live in a village and think they have come here to pasture!!

Hi Sammy, good to have you back after your break. Me and gillian have the same doctor who we saw before booking the surgery and she was all for it. I know a lot of doctors aren't so helpful and understanding though. He will have to know at some point and so it depends on how understanding you feel he might be - it would be good to know you're having it done with his support if his reaction is positive but then not so good I suppose if he has one of those 'well, just eat less & exercise more' attitudes - bet you hadn't thought of that had you?! It will just be a judgement call on your part as to what you decide, but they are not gods (even if some think they are) and if it's right for you and the surgeon is trustworthy (which you know through this forum he absolutely is) then you won't let anyone put you off. Its great your husband is really supportive, that's a real plus. Take care, bigsister x

Hi shoes its understandable your friends and family are a little worried.. they would probably worry if you were having surgery in this country but they have the extra worry because your going abroad and they are probably all thinking the worse.. even tho the hospital is cleaner and dr chris is more experienced than most in this country, i didn't tell people because i didn't want their negative attitude or people thinking i was cheating because i was having the band, some people can be cruel x

Hi shoes the day after my surgery i managed to have 1/4 cup a Soup and the same on the sun morn b4 our flight home, i couldnt manage any more than that, i did take slim fast with me but just didnt want it. A couple of days after i got home my diet was actimel yoghurt drink for Breakfast, 1/2 slimfast for my lunch and 1/2 cup a soup for my tea.. i really couldnt eat any more as that was filling me up and keeping me satisfied. My diet now is actimel drink for breakfast, 1/2 slim fast for my lunch, i have the other 1/2 about 3-4 o clock when i feel a bit peckish and then iv been having salmon and veg most days for my tea.. chewed very well i might ad, i have had poached egg for a change and Pasta with bolognese made with quorn, i enjoyed them both. I dont feel that i need or want to snack in between. Some i know are having protein drinks some the slimfast i dont think there is much difference. Hope this has helped x

I just wrote my soul on a reply, when I clicked the 'post quick reply' button it all disappeared! So here goes again!

Wishing all of you heading to Belgium today the best of luck and I hope all goes well.

I want to say I think this site is really important as a support mechanism for one another, we all understand each other and we know what we are going through. We have all been through and/or going through stages that someone else on this chat site has already been, is now or approaching. I beleive that this site is a recovery program for our 'condition', it's our 'counselling' for each other. But it's 'counselling' with a difference, the 'councellor' is infact being 'councelled'! Sorry, this is turning out completely different from what I actually wrote before, what I am trying to say is we are helping each other in a way that no Dr or councellor or friend could ever help us. Thank You.

Take care of each other and keep up the good work with all the postsa of your progress!

I know I am making the right decision but wouldn't have without this site and it's lovely, lovely people.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
