Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Yes its a week today, snow willing, I think I got everything I need, but I've got palpitations, high blood pressure and Migraine, just thinking about it. I'll be a nervous wreck by the time I get there,and Im not going into the unknown like some of you, as I went through it all with my daughter. You must have been so scared.

But I am so glad you are all doing so well,and I am reading this thread daily even if I dont reply. That reminds me Lewis Abbey and mum must be feeling the same as me, I'll give her a quick pm cause I know shes very busy with her toddlers. xxmmmxx

Hi mmm i think your probably more worried about the weather,roads and the flights i bet once you get there you will be ok and your bp will be normal. I didnt feel nervous at all just excited.. think is was because i new it was the start of a new life for me, i hope eveything goes well for you and you know we will all be thinking about you and the other bandsters going x :biggrin:

Oh and wishfull well done on a lb every lb counts i know u can be disappointed with a lb but trust me once its moving be happy it all adds up well done x
Thanx flirtylass im just glad its moved a bit, iv got my dates for my next two fills, they havnt got as far as taking bookings for april yet, julie is going to phone me when she has (so she says). Im going on a hiking holiday up to the lake district in may so id miss that date and thats why i want to get the one in next week. My dr said i should be able to get a Tummy Tuck on the NHS once i have lost all my weight, BUT i bet the waiting list is years. will you be going back to dr chris? x

I am only young once and thats the main reason i wanted surgery i didnt want the best of my yrs to fly past me iv hid away and not enjoyed the things other people my age done my age so damm il make up for it now though hopefully by my 26th birthday in october il be looking well and full of confidence iv started saving already for my tummytuck arms and boobs

go for it flirty!!..i wish i could have done it at your age!..that way you wont look back with any regrets!..and the older you get, the harder it is to shift the weight and you end up stuck in a rut...you have done the best thing you could have done for yourself,..i hope you end up having a lot of fun,you dont wanna miss out, your right. get out there, enjoy yourself! x

LOL u r naughty eating thick bread.. it is supposed to be thin sliced, I do miss having toast with philadelphia on but im not going to in case it goes down wrong, i thought it was going to kill me when that happened when i didnt chew my salmon properly.. i wont be doing that for a long time. Hope your ok x

hi wishfull..i am naughty yes, but i have just found out that crackers and philadelphia light go down nice..so crackers are my new bread now!.we went to lake district (windermere)end of june last year...it p****ed it down from the minute we got there to the minute we left!..think it was beautifull though!..hope its nicer for you!.we spent our time in the cinema,pubs,restaurants, as i only had flip flops, cropped jeans and tee shirts!

hi wishfull..i am naughty yes, but i have just found out that crackers and philadelphia light go down nice..so crackers are my new bread now!.we went to lake district (windermere)end of june last year...it p****ed it down from the minute we got there to the minute we left!..think it was beautifull though!..hope its nicer for you!.we spent our time in the cinema,pubs,restaurants, as i only had flip flops, cropped jeans and tee shirts!

Its ok we still go walking in the rain, we were there last feb and it snowed but we still done our walking (committed arnt we) and it was lovely plus its not as easy if you have got young kids with you cos you have to keep them happy. we usually do a couple of long weekends a year up there but this time we said we would do a week cos there is so much to see and loads of places to go walking. x :biggrin:

Iv had enough of my dissolvable stitches.. they have got till tue morn to dissolve cos iv got a appointment with the nurse 9.15 tue to have em taken out. x

Hi I haven't posted for a while (lots of visitors!), but I've been keeping up to date with your posts. I went to have my 'blue stitch' out today, but it happens I could have done it myself as just the bit sticking out came off. So I guess the rest is still inside. I hope that doesn't matter. The booklet says that after 10 days you can snip the ends off your dissolvable stitches. I haven't done it yet - did you all do that? I have lost 19lbs so far but I'm getting hungry often now. I had some milky ready-brek today and it went down no problem. I think I might try some mash and gravy later - is that allowed on the mushy stage and what else did you post bandsters eat during the mushy stage.

Good luck to all of you who are going to be banded shortly (mmm I will be thinking of you next week. My BP went sky high prior to surgery but after surgery it went really low, so don't worry you will be fine) T x

Hi TC. I started off with mashed up carrot and swede and/or broccoli/cauliflower and mashed potato a bit later. I had it with either gravy or quite runny cheese sauce. That was from about 10 days after being banded I think. I have pretty much stayed on this since and have just started adding a small amount of fish or chicken, cut up really small and chewing it to death before swallowing. I don't think the leaflet was that helpful in that it didn't really recommend what foods to progress to at what stage and so have just been trying to do it gradually and sensibly. Just as long as you eat slowly and chew thoroughly before swallowing and stop if you start feeling discomfort. Your weight loss is great, better than mine, so very well done. I am hoping to get to Boots tomorrow for a weigh in and so am keeping fingers crossed I've lost a bit more.

As for the stitches, all I did was cut the long strand of thread running from one end of the scar to the other which stopped them pulling - you have to look carefully tho to see it on some. Take care, bigsister x

Hi wishfull yeah i think il go back to chris for tummytuck i was asking fred yesterday how much it was i think it 2000 thats with package hotel op taxis etc but for boobs and arms i think i might go to a reputable surgeon in ireland or uk or whoever my gp suggests cos id be too afraid to take a chance with my boobs i defo dont think id go abroad for it even though its 4times cheaper than uk or here but defo getting them done this side of the world... And gillian yeah i know it was defo right time for me to do something dont want to feel as the big ugly girl forever

yes, like bigsister (who is now alot littler sister...3 stones littler than me i might add!) says with the solids..i did try to have stuff a bit too early..veg goes down great for me, but watch the mash...i have probs with it getting stuck, so add plenty of gravy or sauce..i had a fish in sauce day before yesterday and little peas they went down nice..only had two spoons of mash and that hurt a bit. so does bread and toast!..but its surprising what things do go down well, like the crackers and philadelphia. i had two small pieces of liver yesterday tea time..it was tender lambs liver, and i chewed well, and that was fine too, did it with gravy. carrots were fine too, but again potato got stuck (why do i keep trying it!?) weetabix and ready brek go down well too,and rice pud...a woman i work with who was banded last june has warned me of rice..think she means basamati or savoury rice..but thats like being told not to touch wet paint to me...ill just have a little try!..also sometimes boiled eggs are hard to get down, you have to really mash em up she says..ill report back when ive tried it!

youll look fantastic, dont you worry! so does chris actually do the tummy tucks himself, or is it another surgeon at the hospital?.would be interested in that..altho i can imagine,youll have to stay bit longer in hosp or at hotel?

Thank you to Bigsister and Gillian for all your advice, it's much appreciated. I had ready brek and mash and gravy yesterday (not together mind you) and both went down very well. She had to have further emergency surgery the day after her tummy tuck op as she developed a blood clot. She spent an extra 4 days in hosptal. She also had to come home with the drain still in and wasn't going to be allowed to fly by the airline in the begining, but eventually was given the ok after her flight left!! Once home her GP had to have her admitted to a surgical ward to have her drain removed (after lots of being passed from pillar to post by several hospitals) and she is going to have half of the staples removed today and the other half next Tues. She did say however that prior to her op she had been talking to a lady on a forum who had her tummy tuck done by Dr Chris and she was fine and got out of hospital the same day. I think everyone is different but it has scared me quite a bit.

Good luck with your weigh-in today bigsister. When I got weighed this morning (I must stop getting weighed so often) I had actually gained a pound- so who knows?? T x

Hi TC - got weighed this morning and have lost another 2lbs since last week, that will be a total of about 16lbs (can't be certain of my exact weight just before surgery). Glad your experimentation with mashed up food has gone well so far. I had a chicken n veg Soup last night with chunky pieces in but chewed well and it was fine. Littlesister and myself are going to share a chicken chat starter between us tonight as its our usual Saturday night curry get together. And she has threatened to make an apple crumble - don't know if I'm more scared of her cooking or whether having a bit will go past band ok (but won't let her know that!) Met my Mum today in M&S cafe and she sat opposite me stuffing a bacon roll while I just had a cup of tea - what sort of mother does that?! I knew she never wanted me!

Know what you mean about one of the scars (the biggest one?) having a dent in it, both me and little sister have this also - she refers to it as being like a deep buttoned settee. Going to ask about that when I go back and see doctor/nurse.

ps Flirtylass - how are you doing now since your successful fill on Thursday? You'll soon have lost enough to get your tummy tuck etc and be having the boys falling over themselves this summer!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
