:crying::uwelcome:hi and welcome to shoes, cherry hog and sammy!!!..you have come to the right place for all the friendly advice you need pre and post op....i dont know if i would have gone through with it if it hadnt been for all this lot!!..i was banded last friday, im doing very well, and lost 12lbs up to now...i know that will slow soon and prob come to a standstill for a while as my stomach over surgery and i start to eat again. so not expecting miracles...like people have said on here it can be after quite a few fills that youll get good restriction..but its ok, you will get it...just have to be patient i suppose, look at fern its took her over 2 years to get down...i know its only natural to want all your weight shifted in a few months, but it is better for your body, and skin if done slower really. so im not going to be looking for an amazing weight loss straight away..i was hoping if i did it slower that people wouldnt notice so much and wouldnt be asking questions anyway!(those i havent told, lots of em!)..I was going to take my kids with me,as it was only option at the time i booked, but so glad i didnt..mind you mine are sods!..they would have been bored out of their minds as ther was nothing around hotel and not child freindly place either..i def wouldnt have called it a holiday...altho i did think it would be before i went..would never have felt like leaving hotel bed for the time i was there and certainly not going for a walk..but there are apartments you can go to if you have kids if you have to take them..but dont lift your child up,and be carefull with pushing and pulling. for about 2 weeks or more after..get as much help as poss.youll need it with kids..esp babies. hope i havent put anyone off who has young kids.:tt2:.but im not going to say it will be easy..cos this forum is here to tell the truth, help and advise. anyway, im just drinking smoothie had an actimel drink earlier...starting to take in more calories now i suppose..so weight loss up to now is prob due to drinking mainly Water due to nausea first few days..so not expecting miracles now!....hope everyone is ok and if you havent already gone TC27....then all the best, look forward to your return where you can tell us your story!..Gillian x:Dancing_wub:

Hi Bigsister - I am sooo nervous now I feel sick. I haven't been weighed any more but I'm trying to be good (although I did cheat and have a vodka and coke last night as I was a bit stressed with work - any excuse I know) I usually can lose a bit of weight but it's keeping it off I have the problem with. Good luck with your weigh-in on Saturday. I understand your weight can fluctuate quite a bit just after the op, so try not to be too despondent if it's not exactly as you had hoped, but I'm sure you will be fine. Oh don't mention curry I could kill for one right now. Not sure if I will be on again before Sunday - I will try, but if not I will tell all when I get back. BTW personal question - did you get to keep your knickers on??:tt2: T x

Hi TC, hope you see this before you go. Just want to say, we will certainly be thinking about you and with you in spirit, having gone through it so recently ourselves. You definitely can keep knickers on! They tried to tell us we couldn't when giving the 'Chanel' gowns n Anne Summers surgical stockings out for us to get ready and we queried it cos Dr Chris had said 'bra off but can keep knickers on!'. So they went away and came back and confirmed we could go down to surgery with dignity intact. So if they try to tell you no, protest! Take care and know we are all sending you the best of wishes and hope to hear from you as soon as you feel up to it, bigsister x

Hi guys I had my band! I'm happy about it all being over but a bit confused as was more painful and invasive then I expected it to be. Everyone else seems to be in no pain at all and chirpy as can be after, not sure if I'm just being a baby as I've never had kids or had to stay in hospital before? First i spent the first night (even with all the drugs in my system) almost unable to sleep, constantly turning as I was in so much pain, the past three nights Ive been able to sleep but not with out loads of pain and waking up at least 3-4 times. Also I woke up attached to oxegyen?? I was the only one in the room it was uncomfortable and the nurse said I didnt have enough in my blood after the surgery must be why I kept feeling really short of breath. Also was made really sick by pain killers and barium... had an accident in my hotel room (Mortified). And in the end even though I had suregery Tuesday I had to exchaneg my tickets to come home friday instead of Thursday as I was so unwell!! I feel like the stiches are incredibly painful, but not half as bad as the horrible trapped wind, It beings me to tears several times a day..really trapped wind!, I'm really suffering for it. Am I the only one? Everyone else seems so happy after it all!

oh, bless, you have had such a bad time, I cant give you any advice but I know the sickness is often caused by low oxygen in the blood, it also makes you feel very shakey, look very green and feel like s**t, so dont be put off taking pain killers, if they dont work then consider e.mailing Fredrick or Dr Chris or contact your GP. I hope someone can give you more advise and info, but no one these days need suffer unbearable pain. Sending you love and hugs. mmm

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
