Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

In reply to the above posting,I guess I must come under the heading of one of the "Older bandsters", as I got my band last August.......I lost just over 2st up to having my second fill in November, then nothing at all since! The only thing that I have restriction with is bread ( unless it is thin & crispy toast) & any form of potato's. I am due to have my 3rd fill next week on the 15th, so I really hope that it's right that you get good restriction after the 3rd fill, as I really need to get my weight moving again! It doesn't help when the house seems to be over-flowing with selection box's, as my band has absolutely no effect on chocolate!!!!!!!!! It goes down far too easy!!!!! Unfortunately the band can't stop that "head-hunger"! Kath x.:tongue2::crying::blink:

LOL! yes, sorry old bandster!..i mean more experienced, not age!! (Dont suppose you can teach us how to suck eggs, or could you?!)Im older than you anyway i think, and big sister even older! (sorry bigsister!) let us know how you get on with your third fill anyway wont you?! and lets hope you get some more weight shifted...I have finished all the selection boxes in our house..cos im on pre op diet now..boring, but suppose it will get me used to the liquid phase?!..im having Soups and smoothies and the like in preparation!..mind you a chocolate orange looked at me in a kind of "eat me" way last night from the pantry..I didnt like to hurt its feelings so had about 4 segments...thats naughty! gillian x

Hi gillian, 4 the parking you just need 2 put in "manchester airport parking" it will then bring all the different parking they have.. there was cheaper but you had 2 get a shuttle bus and being honest i dont really want 2 hang around waiting, have a look at the short stay multi story parking which is next 2 terminal 1.. if you book that 1 you dont even have 2 go outside 2 get 2 the terminal.. its just through a corrider and not far 4 the men 2 pull the cases lol x

I should have said that I already have a band, since december 2005.

Was banded in the Spire Southampton...but in Feb 2008 it developed a hole.

So am going to get done again....I loved my band so much, and have put on weight so am now heavier than when I started in 2005.

I think maybe I am the oldest bandster here, cos I have to pay an extra 500 euros because I am an old trout:blink:

Yes i told them and they offered me a discount on my next op, didnt say how much though:frown:

My surgeon told the manufacturer and they have offered a new band (but I dont have any faith in theirs now, so will decline) they simply refuse to pay for surgery as they want to examine it first!!!!!!

How?????

CDB knows that I have still got the faulty band implanted and will remove it for me, when he puts the new one in.

The only time my band worked as it should have (only recently found this out from reading on all the weight loss sites) was after long-haul flights, hence I only lost 2 stone.

It would appear that the band had a sort of 'slow puncture' and then sort of blew, if you get my drift, thats my theory anyway, I may be wrong on that.

Thanx Gillian and Wishful for your replies:teeth_smile:

Hi freckles do you think that might be why you have to pay a bit more, because dr chris has to remove your old one 1st, not because of your age lol x

I wish, I doubt if i will get an appointment that fast...do you? I see you going for your band !!!!! Great news!! btw I dont know if the price includes any fills, does anyone else know?

I have sent my x-rays off to Belgium today...would be great if I got one that fast though...I have actually asked for any date after 9th FEB as we're on holiday, so fingers crossed.

Wishful, no  its deffo cos of my age, cos he said UK ladies over 55 he does not usually operate on so he would charge an extra forfeit of 500euros....damn!!!

The price quoted ...

This means the price would be 3950 euro plus 500 euro.

Normally we do not operate English patients with a age >55y because they have to stay a extra day in the hospital and postoperative complications are more frequent. This will raise the forfeit by 500Euro.

But sweet of you to say that, forgot to say that to Gillian too:laugh:

I dont know if thats the normal price or if its more because of the removal of the old band cos surgery will obviously take longer.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
