malloriedarling 12 Posted January 23, 2017 Hey all! I will find out if my insurance will cover my surgery next month so I'm looking at back up plans. I have been doing some research into doctors in Mexico, but I welcome any and all recommendations of doctors and facilities. If you have bad stories I welcome them as well. Also has anyone that had the sleeve surgery in Mexico opted to have Medical Tourism insurance?? I keep seeing stuff for it everywhere but I'm not really sure what it is and how much extra will it cost? Any and all input is appreciated!! thanks in advance!! sxynana 44 Posted January 23, 2017 Dr. Cabrera with Mexico Bariatric Center. LOVE HIM and so will you. The whole experience was great. I opted not to get tourism insurance and am thankful I didn't need it. It was too expensive to purchase but more expensive if I didn't purchase and needed. Do your research and talk with coordinator about this if you have to go Mexico route. Good luck and hope your insurance covers it tho. Mariassleevejourney 12 Posted March 10, 2017 Are you doing follow up appointments in Mexico or are you transitioning follow ups to US?
mbuczkowski 272 Posted March 10, 2017 I went to Dr Illan. While he is very good, I still wanted to protect my wallet, house, etc from the unknown. So I bought medical insurance to cover complications up to 6 months after the sleeve. It doesn't pay it all but it would reimburse for a portion of it. 2 Alex Brecher and kar12345 reacted to this

I contacted the center today but so worried about being scammed. Was wondering if you should share thewebsite you went through so I can compare. Super nervous but think this is the way to go. Even if my insurance ends up approving me, I'm looking at 5-6k out of pocket!
transmformme 26 Posted March 14, 2017 I'm having mine April 15 with Dr Illan. I line him already. I'm really leaning towards purchasing the insurance simply because we have 3 children 3 and younger.
