I took about three days or so but I have a desk job. Do what you can when you're ready.

I took off a week and then traveled to a conference where I was sitting a lot. It was actually very helpful for me because I heal best when I'm occupied with other things. I also took a family member with me and her job was to make sure I was getting enough rest and Protein :). I had a really easy recovery but everyone is different.

I was sleeved on a Wednesday and went back to work on Tuesday. I have a desk job that I can sit or stand. First day back was fine. I just focused on my work and was committed to drinking. It was easy.

I took 5 weeks. I didn't want to be around ppl with colds and other nasties that I could catch. I also take the train and bus to work and didn't want to risk getting bumped into. The first 2 weeks are exhausting. I was always dizzy and tired and remembering to drink all day and take my Protein and pills would have been difficult at work. I work in an office and sit all day too but even my dr said to stay home. It's just safer.

Had surgery on Tuesday, went back to work on Monday, but I'm a desk jockey and only work in my office 2 days a week. I was working from home on Friday the week of surgery. I really depends on what you do and how you heal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
