Sleeving Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

So the day has finally arrived and I'm having surgery!

I'm absolutely petrified.... more so of recovery when I wake up....

Currently fasting and I am staving (especially that I'm making food for my children still)

<chanting stage strong in my head>

Any advice how to calm my nerves! This is my first operation ever!

Thanks in advance!

No advice as I am still pre-op, but good luck! You'll get through it!

Thank you very much! Hope all goes as planned for you too. You'll be fine, I know a lot of people that had this and they are very happy they did. Keep in touch

I'm only 5 days out from my surgery, but honestly that damn pre-op diet was worse than the post-op period for me so far. At least I'm not starving now! I have no feelings of hunger for the first time in my life. And the surgery was nothing compared to what I had imagined it to be in my mind. Seriously, it was not bad at all. Not even particularly painful. But we all have different experiences and I know some had it much rougher. I hope that yours is as easy as mine was.

Having to track the Protein and fluids is a chore and sometimes I fall behind in that area, but it's a huge change, so it will take me awhile to get good at that.

Keep us posted! Anxious to hear about your experience !

A little nervous and a little like I can't wait to get this over with. I'm getting all sorts of bad headaches too. Hungry all the time, and feeling very cranky. Can't wait for it all to be over either.

They told me not to come to 11:30 so I already know I'll have a day of hunger, thirst, and headache. Still can't wait to get it over. Good luck to all getting it done tomorrow. Keep in touch with progress.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
