My bariatric book advises not to drink alcohol for a year. My sister who had the surgery 4 years ago said she doesn't recall waiting a year and more than likely didn't. Just wondering if you all waited a year or how long you waited AND how you felt after vs. before? I hear you become intoxicated fairly quick. Thx!

My doc approved me for alcohol at my 2 month check up. He advised a very small amount, but I haven't tried it yet cause many ppl have told me to wait a year. That and I really haven't had an occasion where I wanted to drink. When I do...it'll probably be a bit of wine since I'm not much of a beer or liquor drinker

I had wine about 7 weeks it was fine. I doubt I will do it again. I don't think it's a good idea for me to drink. I don't need the calories and there is risk of alcoholism. Just my opinion.

First of all, why would you drink beer? THere is carbonation in beer and it will make you blow up and burp and feel like crap. Second, they don't want you to drink alcohol because it is SUPER easy to become addicted. You'll get drunk REALLY fast and it's hard to control. Wait. Even at over 1.5 years out I won't drink more than 6oz of wine only and very rarely.

Don't do something you'll regret. It's a slippery slope.

just think this way...your new stomach its the size of a baby stomach... would you give alcohol to a baby... ???

BariatricMatters

I'm well aware the size of my stomach! As a mother not even going to bother answering this! A simple answer SPECIFICALLY to the question would have been appreciated NOT the sarcasm.

Please point out to me where I said anything about beer?? I'll wait...exactly I didn't! I understand why they don't that wasn't a question. I merely asked for peoples experiences who had. Don't you think if I read I couldn't drink for a year I continued reading as to their reasons listed?! Thanks for including your experience, but next time I could do without all the assumptions and extra. Just so you know I wasn't looking to drink because if I wanted to I wouldn't have posted a post for permission as I'm an adult. Rather I wanted to read about others direct experiences. Just curious like that.

I wasn't trying to be nasty. Someone else mentioned beer and I mentioned the carbonation. You asked how people felt and I said that it makes people sick. Hot damn that got nasty quick. Best of luck to you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
