Stopping liquid stage.

Recommended Posts

Ok I'm on day 10 of post surgery liquid diet. I'm so done with liquids. Would it be wrong to slowly move to next stage? 4 days early?

You need to talk to your surgeon first. Mine was okay with me slowly moving forward before the set date, but that's because the time period they choose is the same for all patients and I'm quite a bit younger than the average patient and was healing faster.

Anyway, your surgeon knows best for you.

Don't do anything without consulting first. It may be fine, but it may be that you're still not ready for the next phase.

Strangers on the internet can't be trusted to tell you whether you can do this safely. This won't be your toughest challenge on this road. Why not just show yourself you can do anything and stick with the plan?

Thanks all. My beloved Patriots are playing tomorrow and I would love to have a little mushy food than liquid. But I'll be creative!

I would not move forward without discussing it with your medical team. The food stages are there to protect you and your new stomach. Since you can't actually see your stomach, you have no idea what its current condition is. Making good decisions is a huge part of this journey, and deciding to stick to your plan should be one of them.

I haven't had the procedure yet, but getting ready for it I realized that I have to learn to enjoy the things I love without having to associate it with food, like family gatherings, etc. Stay strong, this is another goal that you must accomplish in order to change your life once and for all. Find an extra special Protein shake recipe and enjoy the heck out your precious Patriots! Then come back and tell us how good it felt to stay strong and not let food dictate what you can and cannot enjoy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
