Jazzzyjay 222 Posted January 21, 2017 Does your Protein shakes count as a meal? Such as no eating 30 minutes before or after meals? If I mix Protein with broth should I follow that rule? Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App
hmills653 365 Posted January 21, 2017 I believe if it's liquid it would digest just as quickly as Water so I wouldn't think the rule would apply. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Jazzzyjay 222 Posted January 21, 2017 Protein shake is considered a meal. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Yes I know it's a meal, but I'm confused because it is liquid. Does the no liquids 30 mins before and 30 mi Utes after still apply? Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App I was instructed to drink my Protein shake 30 minutes after a meal or 30 minutes before a meal. But I can't even do that because I get full, so I always wait at least an hour before or after a meal to drink my Protein

DeeM 50 Posted January 21, 2017 I was told you do not have to wait to drink after having a Protein shake. Yes it's a meal but you can have liquids immediately after. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
Travelher 915 Posted January 22, 2017 Yes it is a meal and actually I would wait for a bit to drink after. You probably won't need to wait 30 mins though. He reason I say his is that I dump if I drink my shake too fast. So it goes to say if I drink a shake and the follow it with Water it could push the shake in too quickly and trigger a dump. GBLady41 393 Posted January 30, 2017 I was told it is both a meal and a liquid. So I count the 11 oz as a liquid, and I still wait 30 minutes before and after it like a meal. It is my dinner. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
