So on Monday I start my pre-op diet. Which consist of many Protein shakes throughout the day. I've been doing a lot of research on different types of Protein Shakes but I still can't seem to decide. The nutritionist suggest the Protein shake has more than 20 grams of Protein per scoop. Anyone has any suggestions they might want to share? I like chocolate flavored anything to be exact.

I found one. Slim fast. It had 20 grams and they have like a caramel latte that I want to try. Or chocolate or strawberry and vanilla. Good luck. Im not near that time of my surgery yet. Hopefully in 3 months I will. I hear this part is awful!

My nutritionist wants me to stay away from slim fast actually. I have tasted the caramel latte, they're pretty good. Thanks!

I've hated every brand and every flavor I've tried... but Premier chocolate (though I hated it at first) has grown on me and now it's the only one I will use.

I'm going to have a hard time after surgery, though... can't use straws then, and right now I have to use one to drink it so it doesn't touch much of my tongue.

The other flavors of Premier I don't care for... the new caramel is specifically gross IMO

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
