I was sleeved on Jan. 17. I had a rough time recovering in the hospital including an extra night stay. I was sent home after being able to keep down liquid pain meds and some Water.

I'm really struggling to drink the Water. I'm nauseous and I have major food aversions. The thought of eating or drinking makes me physically ill. I have probably had 64 oz of water since Monday. It's now Friday. How do I get this water down. It just and makes me sick.

Ps. My surgeon said my surgery went very well and was easy breezy because I did so well on my 2 week pre op diet.

I had my surgery on the same day and hope you feel more settled soon. I felt similar for the first 2 days after but have found if I just have everything very slow and very small quantities using short intervals it is manageable.

Sounds like my story. I had to stay an extra night and am struggling with water. Every time I take a small sip, I feel like I have to burp but it doesn't come out and it can hurt. Gas x strips are making me nauseous and I actually spit up some acid yesterday when trying to drink some chicken broth. I think I can only tolerate really cold or really Hot drinks. Room temp water or anything else makes me want to throw up. I'm supposed to start adding Protein shakes back into my diet tomorrow. Should be fun

Plain Water made me nauseous for several months after my surgery. I had to drink tea or flavored waters. Used a lot of those little sugar free packets. I recommend that to get your liquids in. It's hard to get your liquids in at first, you just have to sip sip sip. Take a sip every two minutes or so and that will help you reach your liquid goals. It will get better in time. Sure don't want you to end up in the hospital with dehydration.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
