ice75002 43 Posted January 20, 2017 Just had my EGD this morning. So quick and easy. Now my sleeve is scheduled for Feb 10, hope that goes just as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App 1 ThickGirl5683 reacted to this

ice75002 43 Posted January 21, 2017 Yes. They just used Propofol, so you are still breathing on your own Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
TaylorTransforming 8 Posted January 21, 2017 I had my EGD today too and my surgery is 2/15. I've had an EGD before and was fine, but this time I felt like crap afterwards. Boo. Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App
ready_to_be_thin 179 Posted January 21, 2017 They actually did mine the day before my surgery. Definitely very easy. No pain and no issues at all. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
walklady 31 Posted January 22, 2017 Dumb question here: what is EGD? What does it stand for? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
pink pixel 9 Posted January 22, 2017 It's not a dumb question, walklady. (I had to look it up to find out what it meant) EGD stands for Esophagogastroduodenoscopy. It is a test to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and first part of the small intestine. 1 AB2B reacted to this

walklady 31 Posted January 22, 2017 Ok now I get why it is abbreviated! Thank you! I just now bought "The Big Gastric Sleeve Book" and it is probably in there somewhere. 1 Newme17 reacted to this
olamae 16 Posted February 24, 2017 Do you feel anything during the procedure? Is it uncomfortable? Or are you in lala land? 2 Newme17 and ThickGirl5683 reacted to this
ice75002 43 Posted February 26, 2017 I didn't feel a thing. I was put under but breathing on my own. They said I may have some throat discomfort afterwards, but nothing for me.SW 372 GW
AB2B 104 Posted February 26, 2017 My surgeon did not require this pre-op. I've learned on this site all doctors are very different.
About time for me 33 Posted February 28, 2017 I was OUT, so much better than the colonoscopy!
PatientEleventyBillion 851 Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) Just had mine today, and absolutely no probs. They said it would hit me like a bunch of beers, so lying on my side I closed my eyes, woke up back in the day surgery waiting room where I was given muffins and cheese. Better than I had anticipated. Edited February 28, 2017 by PatientEleventyBillion
kins117 104 Posted February 28, 2017 I have mine scheduled for next Tuesday and I'm irrationally nervous. I hate people touching my neck/throat so I'm just totally on edge. I hope the anesthesia makes me 100% out of it.
