After 30 days

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved 12/17/16 and I lost 20 pounds ever since (not account before surgery). Seems very slow, I don't know if I am eating right. I have been feeling great, no pain and the tolerance to food is great. Do I need avoid all carbs? I know that I need motivation to go back to gym!!

You should definitely not be wasting room on carbs at this early stage. You should be focusing on getting all your Protein in. Also, if you are only a month out, are you cleared to go back to the gym already? I wasn't cleared for any activity more intense than "brisk walking" until 60 days post-op.

20 pounds in the first month is not slow. It's critical not to compare yourself to others. Everyone's body responds differently to surgery, especially in the first month or two. You should focus on sticking to your plan, getting your Protein in, getting your Water in, taking your Vitamins, and walking as much as possible.

I am 6 weeks out, sleeved on 12/6. I've lost 24lbs altogether. I saw my surgeon today. They advised me that I'm right on track and that my weight loss is exactly where it's supposed to be. My starting weight was 214, surgery weight 205 and current weight 190. They also advised me that I could now eat chicken thighs and cooked veggies if I'm still not full. I exercise 4-5 times per week for 45 minutes to an hour. Getting my Protein and fluids is difficult, but I'm trying hard. Sounds like you're right where you should be. Contact your surgeon or your nutritionist. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
