What causes the stall at 3-4 weeks post op? I track everything I eat and drink and range between 600-725 calories a day. I get in 7-8 glasses of Water a day. How can you eat so little and stall?

I am 4 weeks post op.

I lost 21 pounds in the first two weeks and lost 3 pounds in the next two weeks. I did switch to mostly regular food ( one shake and two Protein meals) and I think that might be it. They say if you want to get out of the stall switch back to Protein Shakes for a few days.

Stalls are a way of life in this journey. Sometimes, your body needs a chance to pause and catch up to itself in times of rapid weight loss. Almost everyone stalls around the 3 week mark. It will pass. If you just stick to your plan, the scale will eventually start to move again.

I realize that this advice sounds very cliched, but it is true. I am 3.5 months post-op, and I have at least one stall every month, and I've lost 60 pounds since the surgery and almost 160 pounds total.

Good luck!

The Week 3 Stall is because your body is freaking out about everything you've put it through in the past few weeks. I *highly* recommend you stay off the scale for a bit and focus on your healing, getting in your Protein and Water, walking as much as possible, and taking your Vitamins. If you do all of those things, you WILL lose weight. But your body needs a minute to catch up.

I am 11 weeks post of and 1/2 of those weeks have been stalls. My longest stall was 2 weeks, during the pureed stage. My weight loss has been slow but it continues to move downward so I'm staying positive.

Your body is adjusting and attempting to reach homeostasis. It's very normal and it will pass. I wish I had listened to advice from veterans like JamieLogical who suggest staying off the scale. At about 8 weeks out I stopped weighing daily and weighed once a week. This gives me a better view of my weight and even when in a stall, I can see an ounce or two gone. You may find that you are smaller in size even if the weight is stalled. You'll get through it just fine!
