I have that tea thought it would give me cramps

I'm 4 days out from surgery and hadn't had a BM. Finally used the Smooth Move tea and it worked, but it did give me bad stomach cramps.

I am 8 weeks post op and just about a week ago I can say I've finally found some regularity! For me, it was all about the right foods finally getting back in my diet and also Benefiber about every other day, and Vitamin E 400 IU every other day! Adding the Vitamin E really made the difference for me! Miralax took too long for me.

What didn't work: Tons of fluids, MoM, Senna, Smooth Move Tea, Benefibre.... then

What did: Dulcolax and DulcoEase stood softeners and some vasaline up my bottom to help with the erm 'journey'.

Its the most awful feeling when you are constipated and are very impacted. I was at work once a few weeks after surgery, went to the loo and had to strip off I was sweating so much. 45 minutes later I was back at my desk. I swear to God it was worse than childbirth lol. I have just had skin surgery and prepped for this problem, as I believe general anaesthesia can result in Constipation too. Didn't have an issue this time.

Hope you find something that works for you soon!

Kate

I would recommend taking miralax every single day. If you go too much longer without a bowel movement and you start having discomfort, you should try Milk of Magnesia. It works wonders. Just don't forget to take miralax/benefiber/Metamucil (something along those lines) every single day.

Im 6 days post op and just had my first BM finally. I've been taking mirilax, milk of magnesia, colace. If I didn't have a BM today my Dr was going to have me do an enema. Guess that was enough to scare the shit out of me lol

Like other's have stated here, you may need to go to a fiber additive like Metamucil or Miralax. I was about 10 days post op before I could pass my first bowel movement. After that my surgeon had me on Metamucil that I took every morning for about a year. If I go more than 4 to 5 days without passing a stool then I'll take some Metamucil and I'm good again.

I have to hydrate big time. I have loose stools since surgery. Today it's 2 weeks since surgery 1/10/17. I had an egg Sunday morning and being doing ok. Yesterday I had mushy 1/2 can of tuna w mayo and last night had not just loose, but emptied like I did two days before surgery on laxative. Today, I don't even know what the hell, I don't want to eat (or drink). I just had 1/2 coconut Water.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
