I'm home from the hospital. Walking feels so great. I could walk all day. My abdomen is still very bloated. Lots of pressure and a little pain, but nothing unbearable. Mostly gas pain and pain where my incisions are. I'm getting in my liquids just fine. I'm able to start Protein on Saturday. I've been using has x strips to help with the bloated feeling.

I'm also day 3/4. Walking is good, I had to slow down my Fluid intake from 4oz an hour to 2oz and work back up. I have an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth Protein mix I am going to try today. Tomorrow I might go to full liquids.

Are you still using any pain meds?

Yes I'm on oxycodone. I tried skipping a dose just to see if I could go off of them, but I think it's too soon.

Why did you have to cut back your intake?

I overloaded my pouch and suffered for it. Might be I was getting to much air with my sips. I have hydrocodone but am trying to get by without it.

I am up a couple pounds. My surgeon said that's from the fluids they pump you full of for three days.

I knew the scale was going to reflect my big bloated tummy. I was humoring myself. Trying to guess how many pounds I "gained"

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
