I had my bypass done dec 22 and i have only lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks and 20 lbs overall. I am drinking my Water and Protein, i am taking my Vitamins and eat very little actual food. Usually once or twice a day i eat a couple of tbsp of either puree chicken or maybe Soup. I am frustrated the scale isnt moving. In the past i thought that artificial sweetner caused me to gain weight and im scared it is the reason im not losing. My taste didnt change like others say theirs did and i have a lot of trouble drinking plain Water. Has anyone else had the same experience in slow loss?

is that 20 Lb after Surgery if so that is great. What Vitamins are you taking? are you having normal bowel movements? are you always hungry if so stop the Soups , Soups go thru you to quick you want to do food that will stick with you veggie chili chicken thighs pulled apart. I started to eat more salads and it helps with the bowel movements. If your taking Celebrate it is a good brand but i wasn't taking enough the tablet is big but it takes two of those tablets to equal the value on the label. so make sure your take the right dosage of your Multivitamin. every two hours you should be eating something if not eating drinking a shake. oh yeah the must important thing walking yes it can really really help with your bowel movement and burn the calories off.

After surgery, my taste buds changed and Water tasted over chlorinated. So much so that I couldn't drink it. Eventually I found that I could drink flavored water such as Crystal Light, so that is what I primarily relied upon.

It is common to not see the scales move during the first few weeks after surgery. For one thing you gain a lot of weight in the hospital because they fill your body full of fluids. And you have to lose this added weight first. Also your body is in a major heal mode. So do not be too concerned at this point.

I "only" lost 16 lbs the first month. In total, I have lost 227 lbs. You are right on target with your weight loss. You'll see people here and there who lose 30 lbs the first month, but know that they are the exception. Most people seem to be in the 15-25 lb range. That is, the first month. After that, things slow down.

Stalls are common, even in the first month post-op. I had my first one weeks 2 & 3. When it broke during week 4, I dropped like 6-8 lbs within a couple of days. Just stick to your program and the weight will come off.

You're not a slow loser. Actually, you're losing at an average or slightly faster rate. You're not even a month out and 20 pounds down. That's on the high end.

You need to adjust your expectations. Don't set yourself up for an emotional crash.

No just 12-15 since surgery. The first few came off during the liquid diet before surgery. I am only eating once or maybe twice a day. I might need to increase. And the bms are pretty slow. Only twice this week.

btw - most of us deal with Constipation long-term. It's not the surgery - it's the protein-heavy diet and the some of the supplements (e.g, iron). It does get better further out when you can eat more Fiber, but it's still a struggle for many of us. Just experiment with different treatments and combos of treatments to figure out what works for you, then keep on top of it. You don't want to get so backed up that you end up at the ER! Some things people use include Benefiber, prunes, Miralax, Milk of Magnesia (although MOM is only OK for occasional use), Colace, Smooth Move tea, magnesium capsules or tablets, etc. Just play around with some different things and see what does the trick for you.

Yes you need to eat more often really small meal or sub with a shake every 2 to 3 hours put something in ya mouth. And walking with speed up your BMS. I had to take Milk of Magnesia because the Iron in my Multivitamin was backing me up. wasn't in taking enough Water. please get in 2 large (33oz) bottles of Water a day minimum. it will help with the BMS.

and get a fitbit it will have you up walking!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
