Saying.... Thanks

Recommended Posts

hello everyone .... And thanks for sticking around. From someone that's been on this site for a long time.... Since 2009.... from time to time a change is needed.... We should never let a few bad apple spoil the whole bunch.

Never is it ok to allow any person/persons to make anyone feel bullied, belittled, unimportant, dumb... Etc. We are all here for basically the same reason.... To be with people that have been in our shoes... We all started at the same place. We were all obese and looking to make a change in our lives for the better. We found this site looking for answers. Answers to questions no matter how large or small. I'm sure if you thought of the question... someone else is thinking it too but may be afraid to ask. NO ONE has all the answers.

So I say.... ask... I'm sure someone here may have an answer... if not, must of us will say... Check with your DR.

So stick around... there are still plenty of the Vet's here with years and years of experience, knowledge and advice to give. Lots of amazing people here with amazing success stories to aspire too...

I'm not going to say the thought of leaving didn't cross my mind... it did. I was going to only because i didn't like the drama..... Then that night I got a PM asking if a member could share my Before/Afters with a coworker... I said sure and the next message was how encouraged he said she was to start her very own journey. THAT.. makes it all worth it... so I stay to try and encourage those who are to come behind me, like I was encouraged all the years ago...

Well said!! I know trhat is why I am here. To encourage, learn from each other etc. I must have missed something here because I didn't see everything that happened. But even the queston that have been asked many times should be addressed we don't always know the answers but at least we can try.n If the ones that left did because they were tired of answering questons maybe they are just to tired period. Your post is exactly why I come here. Very refreshing!! Thank yo

Indeed, there are plenty of experienced patients still posting here. They just don't post several times a day but have valuable things to say.

And there will be more veterans here soon. If a patient one year out or more is considered a veteran, there will be more soon. Veterans are a growing community as well just like the newbies.

@@tonyyy normal It took a few weeks for me not to be tired. As far as normal. I never didn't feel normal. For me my life have never been the same. When I started losing weight my whole life changed. My husband was never supportive of my decision to have LB. the more I lost the more distant we became. This is why we are now getting a divorce after 26 years of marriage.

As far as the eating. Nothing is ever the same. It's a whole new way of life. I watched everything I eat and how I eat it. I never weighed or logged anything. It just never worked for me. That's not to say it won't work for others. I followed the rules and exercised my ass off.

I'm courious as to what your meaning about "normal "

I mean the sick feeling, the restlessness, I feel like I need to sit then I feel like I need to stand, walk around etc

But I did stop my anti nausea meds and I feels so much better already!

well that's good.... glad you are feeling a little better. I know I would get dog tired around 2pm everyday. This lasted for about 2 weeks after.

The restlessness may be nerves.... worried about if you did the right thing... I know I did. Worried if i was going to fail at this too. But it all went away. You should start felling better soon. As soon as the weight starts to come off... and it will.... you will feel less anxiety.

I didn't think that the people that were banned were bad apples. In fact the people that I have seen be the rudest and most belittling are still here. There are very few vets left here, most have all moved on to Obesity help after the mass banning that was made out to be about bullying. The facts never added up, half the people that were banned were banned just because they expressed their opinion about the issue and that did not agree with Alex's opinion so they were banned too. This site has turned into a place just for newbies, the blind leading the blind. All the good truly helpful vets are now at Obesity Help happily having real discussions without being called a bully for it. They seem to have a much more mature crowd over there that doesn't see honest advice as bullying. I admit I only popped in today to read some of the ridiculous advice that is being handed out and got a good chuckle from it. BariatricPal already had a bad reputation at my surgeons office, now they advise their patients to avoid it because I showed my surgeon some of the newbie advice being handed around here. If there are vets left here then you would think they would chime in and correct some of the stuff being said, but sadly they are probably afraid they will get called a bully and be banned. I seem to be the only one voicing my opinion that he has not banned, which will probably happen soon because again I voiced my opinion. But then again I did place a pretty susbtantial order from the site before my surgery so maybe he hasn't banned me yet because I'm a customer

Frenchie you are certainly entitled to your opinion. After all it's an internet forum. But so am I, I agreed with Alex on some of the bans.. Not all, but some. But for you to say that "All the good truly helpful vets are now at Obesity Help happily having real discussions without being called a bully for it". I beg to differ, there are still some amazing people still here. They just don't go around insulting people all day and flapping their Peacock feathers saying..... Look at me, look at me. Pretending to be Gods gift to WLS.

I went to that "other site" to look around and decided i've been here since 2009. It's where i choose to stay. I try to give the best advice i can and keep my mouth shout when i don't have anything nice to say.

Sounds like your upset that he didn't ban you so you could go to OH and say.... He banned me too.... I would say, if you like it there, stay there. Be where you feel most comfortable.

Good luck with you WL journey. I wish you the best.

Also nothing wrong with being active on more than one board. There is no decision making for one board or another required.

I'm not upset that he didn't ban me. I just find it very odd that he banned people for disagreeing with him a while lit less than I have. And the only reason I can think of is yes I have actually bought from his store in my naivety prior to surgery. Don't worry I have every intention of spending the majority of my time at Obesity Help for the real advice and only visiting here for the comic relief that this site had turned into

No if you will go back and read through a lot of the post it had nothing to do with the fact that they bought something I've been on the site since 2009 and I've never bought a single thing from here.

The ones that were banded were breaking the rules and some of the others asked to be removed and when he wouldn't remove them they got ugly and so he banned them per their request

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
