Vitamin patches?

Recommended Posts

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried them or discussed with your dr. I'm trying to simplify this as I feel like I'm obsessing about Water, Protein and Vitamins.

Yeah, if I could just plug in an IV line every few days, that would be great too. ????

My doc and nutritionist both advised against the Patches bc the Vitamins are not absorbed adequately.

I too am using them. My labs came back perfect. I don't have another set of labs for a few more months. My nutritionist said the verdict is still out on them. That some of their patients they work quite well for and others come back deficient. Mine just happened to be good. I'm curious if it has to do with patch placement and the use of oils and lotions. I use neither and put it on my arm where you would normally get a shot.

Thanks everyone! I might try them. At least I won't forget them. One of my biggest ones I forget is Iron. I don't take it when I take the rest of them because you can't take Iron and Calcium together or the Iron won't absorb. And that's a pain.

Anyway - any other input is much appreciated.

I just ordered the Iron ones. They say they are non-constipating. That is just one of my issues with the Iron. If this could be the solution, I will be happy.

I ultimately decided to do the Iron Patches to start with. Iron is hard on my stomach and I don't need anymore of that. I also subscribed to the Tessa. It's like a Vitamin keurig. I'll use that for my multi. It mixes liquid Vitamins, which absorb better. Anyway, I'll update after a few weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
