June 2012 I had the lap band surgery. It was outpatient and at a clinic that made you feel like you were just another number. I swear they heard you like cattle, but I was desperate to have weight loss surgery so I was ok with it I guess. I lost all my weight really quick, 69 pounds in about 13 months. I always went for my fills and x-rays to maintain, but then I started having troubles with fills, overfilling, couldn't locate my port, couldn't eat a lot of healthy foods, I would have to find a bathroom everywhere I went so I could throw up. I gained 20 pounds back and had to have my port fixed because the clinic caused it to leak because they never could find my port and would poke holes in it until it finally developed a leak (they did not pay for this procedure). I had to have my band fixed in 2014 but had all the same issues as above for the next 2 years. At my last visit for my lap band right before Christmas, I was told that my band was eroding, grrrr! I then decided that I am going to have the sleeve done. I decided to go to Tijuana to have my procedure done because the cost in the states is outrages and I don't have insurance. I was referred to A Slimmer Me, by another Surgeon I had used in Tijuana for other procedures in the past. I had my sleeve done on 1-12-17 & I had little to no pain, I was up walking (bc I wanted to, that's how good I felt) a few hours after surgery, I was up an moving the next day going to an appointment and to the Recovery House where I went for 2 days. Let me tell you this has been the best decision I have made. Dr. Luis Montano (bariatric surgeon) did my procedure and I couldn't be happier with my decision and my results. A Slimmer Me, Dr. Montano & Team are top notch all I had to do was literally show up to the San Diego Airport and the rest was taken care of by A Slimmer Me. All my pre op appts were set, (consultation with him face to face, transportation from SD-TJ-SD, Psychologist, Nutritionist, Endoscopy) and so much more. I'm glad I chose Dr. Montano & A Slimmer me because you can feel the care and concern that they give My life has totally changed and I couldn't be happier. My whole experience was great, I love the way that I was treated, felt safe and never wanted for anything. A Slimmer Me and Dr. Montano are now a part of my family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
