Help! I have had to have a couple of Iron Infusions a month or so ago, The doctor and nut want me to take Iron supplements again. I tried Gentlesorb (GNC) for the first week it was going ok, taking them every other day to get used to them. But then I started to have the same stomach issues. Pain and nausea. I've tried at least 18 different brands of Iron and now trying a chewable version I received from the Bariatric Pal Store. If cannot get enough Iron in my system it looks like I'll have more infusions. I eat plenty of foods with Iron in them, but I just can't get enough!

Do you eat black Beans?

yes I do, I eat Beans, Kale chips, Spinach and red meats, I've always had anemia but since the surgery it got worse. My hemoglobin was down to 25, after the infusions it was 52. I couldn't tell the difference in how I felt.. I felt fine with low count, I was usually at 35.

I just made myself some beans from scratch. Soaking 'em, fussing over 'em, the works. M mmmm good.

In my bean research I discovered that black beans have a high RDA of Iron than other types of beans, 25% vs 15%.

Would this help?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
