I have recently seen people who have medical ID bracelets after WLS. Most common I have seen are "No Blind Intubation", and "No sugars or NSAIDS".

Are these common? My doctor hasnt said anything about it.

I had my surgery in August of 2016 and after reading another blog I thought best to get a medical I'd Bracelet. God forbid I am ever in an accident and not alert at least they would know about my surgery. Just like if you were diabetic or had a heart condition you would wear one. I feel better safe then sorry.

I got mine from RoadID. Look under gastric sleeve surgery ID bracelets.

@@haliib I won't wear a 'no blind intubation' Bracelet because if I *need* an emergent airway, I don't care if they blow my stomach out getting one. Blind intubations aren't common and not having a patent airway and being hypoxic is life threatening and more important than preserving the integrity of my sleeve.

There are different types of intubation though. Perhaps a 'no blind NG intubation' bracelet', lest they delay in establishing a patent airway in the eventuality a respiratory obstruction.

As for NSAIDS, ER personnel are already cautious about administering them. But, if you want the IDs get them..

That makes sense, thanks!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
