blizair09 3,250 Posted January 16, 2017 it really is. I was thinking I'd have to wait till June. have u had an assessment?. what was it like x Sent from my SM-J320FN using the BariatricPal App My BMI was above 50 when I started my journey, so I spoke to my PCP about it at my physical in February 2016 and she referred me to the surgeon. They called me; I gave them my insurance info and we set up the first appointment. When I arrived at that first appointment, they took measurements and told me what the insurance requirements were and that was that. I had to do six months of diet visits with them (that first one counted among them). We finished those in August and my surgery was September 28. I lost 99 pounds during the six month period, and I have lost another almost 60 since the surgery. Good luck in your journey!
