bariatricmomof2 18 Posted January 16, 2017 I was sleeved 12/22. I've had such a hard beginning including not being able to get my Protein in, having a hard time getting Water in, and couldn't get my Vitamins in without vomiting. I had to have a 1 week post Op appointment due to not feeling good at all. I was put on carafate 4 times daily, an acid reflux medication, and an anti-nausea medication. I lost 17 pounds the 1st week because I was very dehydrated and couldn't do anything about it. My Dr said if I waited until after the weekend I would've been in the ER for dehydration. I started eating more ice and trying to get some type of Protein in for the 2nd week after surgery. I ate more popsicles. The 2 week appointment went a lot better and I was released for pureed and soft foods for 2 weeks. I just finished my 1st week of the soft foods. I absolutely HATE food!! I seem to only be able to eat fish and shrimp. I've eaten chicken and I don't really like it too much. I've eaten pork, not too good either. I am sitting here after eating chili and I wish I didn't even have to eat that. I am still very dehydrated. I started work again last Thursday and I was a mess. Last Friday when I worked I didn't pee not once!! I'm there for over 8 hours. My urine is orange almost all day. I feel weak. I feel nauseous. I tey to get the carafate in but I get really sick from it. I've talked to my Dr numerous times but they are starting to be at a loss since it's been so hard for me. I'm just over 3 weeks in and have lost 30 pounds. Does anyone else have the same experience? I really don't want to eat at all. Is this normal? Will I feel like I want to eat ever again? TIA!!! bariatricmomof2 18 Posted January 16, 2017 Thank you! The Vitamin patch sounds interesting! I will look into that. I need something. There is no other way to get that Flintstones Vitamin down. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
savyourdvine1 110 Posted January 16, 2017 I'm concerned with the color of your urine and the lack of Vitamin and Protein. People have been admitted in the hospital for dehydration with symptoms like yours. I would call my Dr. and address those concerns. bariatricmomof2 18 Posted January 16, 2017 Thank you! I will call my Dr. I'm trying to get other sources of Protein through food. I would really like to actually eat nuts and things like that but I'm not cleared for that yet. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
tani 105 Posted January 16, 2017 What Protein are you using? I could not handle whey protein (I would feel nauseous all the time) so my surgeon recommended egg white protein. That might be an option for you. My surgeon and nut where insistent that I focus on liquids and protein. Hope you get it figured out soo.
bariatricmomof2 18 Posted January 16, 2017 I use whey. I need to try something different. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

dyemond11 43 Posted February 9, 2017 I initially was sent home with the acid reflux in which my Dr. Wants me to stay on for 3 months as well as the Nausea meds I was sent home with. I didn't start my Vitamins until week 2. All my vitamins were liquids / chewable in which I purchased through this app BariatricPal. I was sleeved 12/12/16 I do eat the chicken and fish, but was told I couldn't eat shrimp. I've tried a little pork since being in Europe now there is a ton of it. With the sleeve times you may not feel hungry but you should be intaking something food or Water at least every 2 hours, if drinking plain water is a huge task try Mio or crystal light that helped me in the beginning.Nausea I lived with since surgery day including dry heaves (absolute worst thing ever). When I would nauseous I would either take my meds or immediately put a cold towel on my neck or forehead and it would go away. bariatricmomof2 18 Posted February 25, 2017 That's a good idea with the towel! My Dr said I can have Protein Bars once a day so I am doing that for 1 of my meals. It's still not easy and I'm 2 months out now. Dehydration is the worst feeling. HW 270SW 253CW 2095'1" tallSleeved 12/22/2016!
Berry78 4,261 Posted February 25, 2017 See if you can get bags of fluids through an IV multiple times a week. If you are hydrated, it might shed light on what else can be done to get you feeling better.Check on your gallbladder, check for anything wrong in the sleeve, try different sources of Protein in case there is a sensitivity...Hope you get to feeling better soon!
