2 (TWO) periods in 1 month?!?

TMI FOR ALL YOU GUYS OUT THERE

Hi ladies! Anyone had more than one period in 1 month, post-vsg???

I have had a Mirena IUD for 5 years now with very regular, predictable periods.

I had my VSG on 12/13/16. Afterwards, I had my normal, usual 4 day period on 12/30/16, and now only 14 days later, here it is again. Full force.

What gives?? This has never happened to me as long as I have had periods. TMI again, sorry... but if this was a little spotting or what-not, I wouldn't think anything of it. But, this is a total full blown period, which I find very strange, especially considering that I have an IUD.

Can anyone weigh-in on this? Any knowledge, personal experiences or thoughts are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks ladies!

Fat stores lots of hormones including estrogen. As you burn it, those hormones are released into your bloodstream and can wreak havoc on hormone reliant body processes like your period.

Mine was rather normal but last month I was 10 day late and this month I've had it for 14 days straight. My doctor said its because of all the hormone changes and its completely normal. I hope this helps!!

Very normal with rapid weight loss your periods can be all over the show while the hormones settle down every time I did a diet where I lost weight fast this happened and since being sleeved in march 2016 it's the same it has settled down now

I have a Mirena and mine was all over the place.. It's due to the fat loss/releasing stored hormones.. It becomes more regular later..

I had VSG on 12/21 and got my period on 12/26.... And it has not stopped yet. Still going, full force. Like another user said, hormones are stored in your fat and as you burn through the fat those hormones are released. For me that's a crazy long period and horrible acne. Goood luck!

Omg! The acne! Yessss! I hadn't even connected the two together. Now it makes sense why I'm starting to look like a pubescent teenager! I haven't had acne in 15 years or so, other than an occasional blemish around my time of the month. Ugh!

Thank you all for the insight. What you've said makes total sense. Although, I never knew that fat stores hormones. Very interesting how the human body works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
