Day 4 of liquid pre op diet

Recommended Posts

The pre op diet is worth it. Remember this is to prepare you for surgery. Your surgery date is very near; and as challenging as the pre op is hang in there.

The pre-op diet is just the beginning my friend. I remember when I was a week out after surgery and I went to the gas station to pump gas. You know how they have those advertisements of the nasty gas station food inside? Oh my lord, I would have given my right leg for a gas station cheese burger. i wouldnt normally want something like that but my brain wanted food SO bad! i wanted to CHEW something!!! I promise you, it will get better and much easier! I couldn't have physically eaten that burger anyway...but i will never forget how bad I wanted it! lol

good luck!!!

I'm so thankful my surgeon only requires a two week pre-op diet of sugar free, low carb/high Protein foods. This diet will also shrink your liver.

However he is strict with his post-op diet, as we are required to stay on clear liquid for 10 days then advance to full liquids for 10 days & after that its 10 days of puréed food. I know others sleeved patient who are cleared to start eating soft foods just one week post-op. The diets really seems to very with each surgeon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
