My surgery was 06/2016 and have lost 110lbs. I feel great now that I have been through all the rough patches! There is one thing that I can't figure out though. I know we are supposed to keep sugar to a minimum intake however when I do take in sugar (more then allowed) I feel weak, sweaty, and nauseated. Does this happen to anyone else and does anyone else have the same?

YES! What you are experiencing is a type of dumping syndrome. Its your bodies way of saying you shouldn't have eaten that. I know that I cannot take in more than 6 grams of sugar at a time or I'll get super sick with all of the symptoms you've listed. Try to watch that sugar intake because your body can't handle it now.

Good luck!

I agree with others, you are dumping. I avoid sugar entirely. The only substantial sugar I consume is from blueberries and I limit those to 1/2 cup per serving.

You can also dump from eating or drinking too fast, so watch that as well. (I'm assuming you had rny)

What about OJ? It's the only thing I can drink and keep down at the moment. Water makes me nauseous, though I am still drinking it.

Yes I had rny. I love juices so what I do is use about 90% Water and 10% juice depending how strong the juice is. Apple juice works really well with me. Thanks for all the replies. I rely on all of you out there for support. This site has help me so much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
