abaker04 22 Posted January 14, 2017 Ok so this is going to seem super silly. I just found this app last night and hoping if anyone can ease my fears it's people going through the same thing. I have this irrational fear that what if I do this, what if I make this drastic change and it does me no good? What if I don't lose weight? What if I feel the same? This is completely irrational I know. I have several people that I'm close with and alot more that have had it and changed for the better. Why is this still running through my mind. I have gotten better about it. Now Ijust ready more than anything. However that small fear is still there. Please tell me I'm not alone in this? Frenchie1977 262 Posted January 14, 2017 You are definitely not alone. Before surgery I had been on so many diets and lost weight but then failed to keep it off I too was terrified that surgery would not work for me. I have PCOS and losing weight was very difficult for me. It's natural to be a little bit scared after a lifetime of weight loss failures. Now I am 6 weeks out from surgery and have lost almost 30 pounds when before surgery I wouldn't have lost 5 pounds in this amount of time. It's natural to have the fears but don't let it hold you back, the surgery works. I had 2.5 week stall and have still managed to lose that much, and am back to loosing now. Keep your head up and get the surgery, it's a lifesaver.

Michelle2nice 17 Posted January 14, 2017 It is normal to have fear. I have two sisters who both have had a surgery. One had the bypass and the other had the lap band. Both were not successful and that really scared me. I felt like I shouldn't do it because I will have the same results. But then I realized that I am not them and that if I kept my will, strength, and the promise I made to my kids and myself I will be fine. You have to belive in yourself and be committed to your new lifestyle. You will do great. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

HurricaneU 131 Posted January 14, 2017 Im nervous about having the surgery despite not having a surgery date yet, but I am way more nervous about how my health will be this time next year if I dont. Its natural to have fear of surgery and fear of failure. But ive learn so much from reading about others success and failures. I am pretty sure you have to and know exactly what to expect, the dos and donts, and how to get the answers you need when something comes up.
