I'm only 2 months out so I don't know if this will change or not but I find eating out at restaurants stressful.

From having to measure and ask how things are prepared, I just hate it.

I eat out fairly often. Fast food isn't really something I enjoy anymore. I usually go for a grilled salad option, or grilled nuggets. I've gotten the burger without a bun once, but it just made me feel crappy.
Restaurants are easier because I order off of the kids menu, appetizers, or just get an entree and have leftovers. It depends on the restaurant and the options available.

I think the idea that you could never eat out again is not only unrealistic but sounds incredibly depressing. There is a social aspect to eating out that I feel is very important. It's all about making the right choices. I'm about 2 1/2 months post op with the Sleeve and I've eaten out a handful of time. I made smart, choices and focused on Protein first.

I follow a modified Keto diet as much as I can so when I eat out I look at different websites and try to follow their advice and guidelines.

I have eaten fast food once. It was today actually. I went to Wendy's and ordered a single burger with no bun. They put it in a lettuce wrap for me but I chose to eat it with a knife and fork. I have the Tomato and a little bit of mustard on it. I ate about 2/3 of the patty and had 4 of my mother's fries. I used my fitness tracker and a Keto website to figure out the nutrition facts. This will be my large meal for the day.

My NUT has me on 800-1000 calories a day, 100 grams of Protein and suggests my carbs stay below 50 grams but isn't steadfast on calorie counting. I'm well on track today still at under 600 calories for the day and only 20 g of carbs.

Agreed so much with this.

Fast food companies are increasingly required to give nutritional information about their food. It should empower someone to use that info to make an educated decision.

Though my plan post-op is any fast food I get, I remove anything high in carbs (i.e. buns) or just flat out useless nutritionally, and I plan to share it with my wife, daughter, or others. There's no fast food I've seen yet that has the portions I intend on sticking to.

Plus, I have a trip back to California I've been planning with a long time buddy of mine back in my home state. I've promised myself for years when I go back to visit I'd have some In-N-Out, Round Table, Jamba juice, Premier pizza, Tacos El Grullense, etc.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
