I'm wondering if people with hashimotos or hypothyroid lose weight slower, even if their thyroid isn't off? I finally got to 10 pounds loss at 2 week mark :( lots of Protein and Water, 10-11k steps a day. I'm stumped..

I'm going to say yes. I was taking my medication with Vitamins and your supposed to take it on an empty stomach because it doesn't absorb completely with other things but when I started taking it separately i started losing an extra 2 pounds a week (so far) but I feel like it definitely kicked my metabolism into gear

I will also agree. But your 10 lbs in two weeks is still faster than me. I will be 8 weeks out next Monday and today I have lost 19 lbs since surgery.

I'm taking both T3 and T4.

Hi. My dr said it's not as long it's regulated. I am 7 days out and I lost 9 lb. I have read bmi plays a role into losing weight. Your 8lbs is good too considering that before sleeve it would have been harder to lose a pound. Keep positive

I have Hashimoto and take 100mg levothyroxine

Back to old me soon

Have had several "stalls" since surgery. For the past 5 weeks I either stall or lose no more than 1-2 pounds.

I'm hypothyroid and on synthroid.

I've got hashimitos and I was curious about this too. I figure loss will be slower, but still faster then if I didn't do the surgery!

I've been on Levothyroxine since 2013 & lost #101 within my first year post-op.

I do; however, fall into the category of those with thinning hair/ hair loss...despite still having a thick head of hair, my hairline has receded and I lose a significant amount each morning when I shower & Shampoo my hair.

Aside from that, I certainly didn't feel that my weight loss was hindered by hypothyroidism...If anything, I've been bewildered that my TSH didn't change, allowing me to take LESS Levothyroxine after losing nearly 1/2 my body mass...but the dose has remained the same.

You should take your thyroid medication on empty stomach. Doc said I can drink black coffee or Water for 1st 1/2 to 1 hr. after taking medication and nothing else. Never take with any other medication or Vitamins.< /p>

I have thyroid disease along with oversized nodules. I have been losing slowly. My doctor said it's because of my thyroid.

I wasn't ever allowed to have anything but Water for at least a half hour with my thyroid meds. And 10 lbs is really good - it took me 2 weeks to lose the surgery bloat!

I'm hypothyroid and didn't have problems with weight loss. I'm down 80lbs and had my surgery 9/2016. Medication has to be taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and can't eat for 30 mins. You also have to wait 4 hours until you take your first Vitamin. That's what my pill bottle and doctor says. There is on line info on that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
