LovelyLola41 7 Posted January 13, 2017 Hi there. I have surgery scheduled for Feb 7. I want the Gastric Sleeve, but due to my high acid readings and lazy esophageal sphincter muscle, the doctor is suggesting the Gastric Bypass. Any thoughts or experiences? Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App I Would not chance the sleeve if u have acid reflux or gerd. Many, many oeopke have to get a revision after the sleeve due to horrible reflux. Hes what my surgeon saud to me bc I also have had gerd for years. He said," about 1/3 of sleeve patients I see end up having reflux, however what Im seeing more and moreIs a much later down the line many get horrendous reflux daily and I end up doing a revision, bypass. We got talking a out this bc I have had reflux for many year. I'm not gonna go through this surgery twice, so Its bypass for me. parrott06 18 Posted January 22, 2017 I'm taking 1 week. I have a desk job and work from home so I think that's doable, but probably won't be easy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Moorekat 78 Posted January 23, 2017 Yep! I had to have Bypass cuz of my Gerd and Barrett's Esophagus! I haven't had any issues since! Before surgery, even Water gave me acid reflux! I am very pleased with my surgery and haven't had any issues other than needing my Gallbladder out a couple months after surgery! Now I'm great!

Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App Same here I was initially interested in the sleeve but have gerd and they found a small hiatal hernia in my swallow study they said they would fix but I'm concerned about acid reflux still and leaning towards bypass Sent from my XT1635-02 using the BariatricPal App
