I asked my doctor about pork skins hence the word skins he looked at me like I had 12 heads. His look alone told me my answer.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is he Jewish, maybe? That would do it. ;-)

I don't remember when I started eating them, but I eat Pork rinds all the time. They were on my list of recommended foods as an alternative to chips and crackers. The only chip I have ever really liked is tortilla chips with salsa, but I don't use them for that (I use celery). But I eat pork rinds frequently now with my hummus.

In my opinion, when your surgeon says you are cleared for all foods, then give them a try. There is no rush to experiment right now.

I still haven't had Pork rinds post op. I used to eat themore as a low carb eafter, I used them for breading for fried chicken.

If you want crunch. I like the Quest chips, they melt in your mouth.

Pork rinds are a good snack if you are a choice I think. I just don't think at 5 weeks they are.

Okay thanks. I've purchased turkey Jerky. I decided against Pork rinds. I will try that later in my sleeved life.

I wouldn't even want to eat those just because I would be afraid of doing all this hard work just to have it gained it back. This is an opportunity to get back on track and I'm giving up everything that has to do with chips fried in oil, pork skins fried in oil, if it's not a meal with Protein or on my list then I know not to bring back all those bad behaviors. I've worked to hard to undue the benefits that will come once I have my surgery.

I have to say I can't recommend Quest chips, they have a terrible aftertaste...like this dusty flavour. I do like the Kay's Naturals chips though...more tolerable, left of that powdery aftertaste.

I decided against it once @@jenn1 posted the nutrition information. I decided against it now , so I'm good. I'm very disciplined with my sleeve that's why I was trying to incorporate a snack that I thought was low carb with good Protein content. I have no desire for junk food or I would have asked could I eat little Debbie Snacks. I have gone through a lot to get this sleeve and I'm not that one to sabotage my efforts to become healthy and reach my goal because of a piece of pure sugar. I'm trying to see my goal by the end of March. Only 41 lbs to go. So I'm focused . I just ask questions on here to get advice from the vets due to they have been around the block once or twice.

Where can one purchase them?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
