Non-Scale Victory: AIRPLANES!

Recommended Posts

I've lost more than 50 pounds, but I swear this is the first time I've REALLY felt it: sitting on an airplane and easily putting on the seatbelt. Not only did I put it on [something I couldn't always do before QQ] but I put it on without tugging, pulling, or "sucking it in". And then, when I dropped my tray table, it didn't immediately bounce back up off my belly -- NAY! THERE WAS ROOM BETWEEN THE TOP OF MY THIGHS AND THE TRAY TABLE!

I can't remember the last time I could use a tray table on an airplane. It's dumb, but it's horribly exciting.

Thats so funny because thats so me. I travel alot for business and personal and its becoming less enjoyable because of that. Having to fly for hours feeling so uncomfortable. Im looking forward to making that progress.

Congrats! That's an awesome nsv. I hate flying for those reasons. Can't wait till i can get on a plane and not need an extender and be able to properly use the tray table. Funny the things some people take for granted. It sounds silly but god is it sooooooo incredibly validating.

Congrats! This is one NSV I am definitely looking forward to myself, as I often fly a lot as well due to living abroad.

It's not dumb at all. I remember tossing my seat belt extender. It was one of my first NSVs. Congratulations on your progress!

Oh my God, this would be the dream! Can't wait to do my surgery and start my journey. Honestly travel is so uncomfortable at certain weights....and this is a huge accomplishment for you! Congrats :)

I can so relate to this. I still need a seat belt extender on some planes but I know I'm making progress cuz I don't use much of the extender. I too have this same NSV goal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
