I'm having the hardest time getting in anywhere near 64oz of Water every day! I carry a Blender Bottle around with me at work, but most days I just get so busy I forget to drink as much as I should. Am I alone here?

I'm counting my hot teas & crystal light towards my Water intake, basically anything that's (somewhat) clear - are you all counting your shakes towards your daily water intake?

for my practice, they let us count all noncaffeinated liquids. so Water, crystal light, shakes, Decaf tea/coffee, skim milk, sugar free popsicles (they melt into a liquid).

I also still fall into the trap of forgetting to drink enough at work - get distracted and even though the insulated tumbler is right in front of me, don't. So I set a timer on my phone for every few minutes - just have the volume turned down so not everyone can hear it

I counted everything I could as Fluid. I was never a Water drinker and still struggle with it, so I drink a lot of herbal teas, coffee, no calorie iced tea, and use squirty stuff in my Water when I actually drink it. So yes, I counted my shakes, too, when I was newly post op. Still alive after 2.5 years.

As the others said, shakes and all other drinks, Jello and broth all count towards your 64 oz liquid intake a day. That's what my nutritionist told me.

With all that, I get in mostly Decaf tea. I am not a big Water drinker, but do get some in during the day (about 20 oz). With all my liquids, I get about 78 oz in a day.

Yes! I count my shakes towards it too! I do an 8 Oz water in the a.m., 2 11oz shakes and 2 16.9 Oz waters a day.

Mine counted. I have no problem keeping up at work, I have a cup beside me all the time. It's at home when I can't seem to keep up with the drinking. LOL.

My surgeon said anything liquid (or becomes liquid, like sf popsicles and jello) that does NOT have Protein in it can be counted as liquid.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
