ambernoel 79 Posted January 12, 2017 Mine says no- but coffee ( Black of course) helps keep things regular in the bowel department for me and if I don't drink regular it doesn't work- I'm a little over one month out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
mylighthouse 782 Posted January 12, 2017 My nutritionist said we could have coffee between 4-6 weeks out of surgery. I was doing Decaf until about a week ago. Just started having a couple cups of regular coffee a few days ago on a regular basis, and my bowel movements have finally returned to normal.... which is great, because before that I was constipated all the time. Yay too regular coffee... if you're allowed it!
Minimel 45 Posted January 12, 2017 The tannins in coffee retard healing so my dr had us wait until 8 weeks out to drink it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
gonefromhere 32 Posted January 12, 2017 My guidelines say that once I am reliably drinking 64 oz of Fluid a day, I can start coffee/caffeine.
Omieliz 213 Posted January 12, 2017 My team (Kaiser So Cal) says never. It has been 4 months since surgery, but 6 months since I've had real coffee. It kept me regular. Man, do I miss it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

JohnGraySmiley 88 Posted January 12, 2017 Following my four weeks post-op appointment I am allowed 8 ounces a day. I utilize 4 ounces a day during the week. If I'm desperately tired and need a boost I'll have another 4 ounces before I leave work, but that's only happened once or twice in the last 7 months. I'm 8 months post-op. Heal well.
