curlyinthecity 35 Posted January 11, 2017 I'm so anxious! I was originally scheduled for the sleeve for 1/25/17. Today the coordinator called me and asked if I would like to be moved up a week to next Wednesday, 1/18/17. Of course I took it because I'm excited to begin the journey to a healthier me, but now my anxiety and worries have set in. What did you do to combat it? MissJDVSG 129 Posted January 11, 2017 We're surgery buddies! I'm also having my surgery on the 18th! And yes, I'm also nervous. But I'm just as excited. I'm just trying to pray and be rational. These surgeries have low complication rates, and despite being fat I am fairly healthy. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
curlyinthecity 35 Posted January 11, 2017 @@MissJDVSG Very true. I know it's just a load of irrational thinking. We're going to do great! Good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ddkVSG 32 Posted January 11, 2017 Congratulations! I put all of my nervous energy into cleaning and organizing all of my cupboards, cabinets, drawers and closets. It was a ton of work and I'm so happy I did it. My house was so clean and organized when I got home. New me, new surroundings. Keke288 9 Posted January 12, 2017 Hi, Curly. I was plagued with anxiety, and cancelled surgery in August. As my new date of Jan. 9 was approaching, I was even more anxious after a less than stellar education session with people I really didn't relate to. My husband wanted me to try something else. The thing that really helped me was to speak with my nurse, who also had the surgery, and to read success stories. In particular, there is a thread by JerseyJules who cancelled surgery while he was being given his IV and is now back after 2 years not having been able to do it on his own. I can tell you that I was completely calm on Monday, my surgery went extremely well, I had minimal pain and only was nauseous when I got morphine, which I stopped taking and just used liquid tylenol. Didn't need much. liquids were fine, walking was easy and gas was really not bad. I feel fortunate to have had such a smooth experience. No one was more panicked than I, except maybe Jules, but reading his post and all of the supportive responses really helped. Wishing you all the best!! curlyinthecity 35 Posted January 12, 2017 @@Keke288 thank you much! I have an anxiety disorder which is making it that much harder for me to relax. Today was my pre op class and like you, I felt alone among the people in my class. Many of you all on here have been so kind & supportive and you're right - that's what I need to focus on. I will check out Jules post, and thank you for sharing best of luck to you as well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
