I'm currently on day 9 post op and I totally felt the same way a few days ago! But around day 5 or so the cravings slowly went away and became soooooo much more manageable! Just keep busy and anytime you start to doubt yourself just remember why you did this and how good it will feel when those pounds come off :)

Did anyone cheat a little on the liver reduction diet ?

My advice is, if you HAVE to cheat (you don't), then make sure you do so with low carb foods. Any carbs will knock you out of ketosis and you will have to go through the headaches and fatigue of transitioning into ketosis all over again.

This^^^ the first 5 days are the worst but then it magically becomes bearable. Cheating is a slippery slope. Part of the reason I had surgery was to stop lying to myself that I needed help. I agree that you are short-changing yourself by cheating. Don't get me wrong, I posted about wanting to take diet pills during my pre-op diet to diminish my hunger pains and thankfully the folks on here talked me out of it. So as the saying goes, "if I can do it, so can you".

It truly is mind over matter. Your body really does not need more for this short time. You may feel like you are starving at times, but you can get through it. This is just a test of your will power at this point. If you feel yourself getting ready to cheat, just drink some Water, go for a walk, do ANYTHING to distract you. It does get better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
